| Suggestion for User Manual or Troubleshooting Support | 12 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Table Usage | |
| I recently received a new 3-foot table from the April preorder, and it is a much more impressive experience than the end table! That said, I discovered that the Sisbot moved during shipping, an issue I did not discover until I tried running the table and found that the Sisbot arm WAs striking the gear on the off-axis motor because there WAs not enough clearance. More precisely, when I ran the Erase pattern, I found that the table worked fine for about two-thirds of the radius, but when it reached a particular angle and distance away from the origin, sudden ... | |||||

| Thanks so much for thoroughly investigating and documenting your problem (and fixing it!). You are spot on in all your assumptions. The coffee tables are far more massive, and also far more likely to be mishandled during shipping. We will indeed follow your suggestions, and add this pre-run check to our instructions! | |||||
| RE: White Light Flickering | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| ... But WArranty is 1 year for everything except wood tables - which is 2 years. I would suggest checking the 2-wire cable which connects the LED string to the SisBotBoard under the table. If you follow it back (from the LEDs to the SBB) you will find a connection near the LED string and another where it attaches to the SBB. Try disconnecting and reconnecting them. If that doesn't help, please start a Support ticket at the above email address. We'll get it fixed ASAP. | |||||
| RE: Table not powering on... | 4 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @kris9209 - I have no idea what the issue WAs, other than their Mini WAs not powering on. The key info from this thread is that this forum is not the place for troubleshooting table / Mini problems. We have a great Support team (in-house), and take great pride in our Support track record. Once again: please contact our Support desk for help if your table / Mini is not working properly. | |||||
| RE: Magnet shaving bottom of table | 3 Relevance | 3 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @rick-yeh This is definitely not normal function -- I will alert our Support team, but also, please start a ticket so we can keep track of it: follow up: Support is already working with you (they suspect the dust is from the cardboard WAffle-board padding which we cut to size in our shop) and have relayed instructions for removing it and inspecting the low-friction pad on the magnet for signs of wear or foreign material. Rest assured - we will make sure the problem is fixed! | |||||
| RE: Control multiple tables on multiple wifi networks from app - Y/N? | 3 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | App Usage | |
| @gr8fdead Yes, if both your coffee table and your Mini are on the same network you should be able to switch between them. Please contact our Support team - Support@sisyphus-industries.com - and they will help figure out where the problem is and how to fix it. | |||||

| Try power cycling (unplug, WAit ten seconds, re-plug). Even if it works, that error suggests something might be wrong - please contact our Support at Support@sisyphus-industries.com. They are first rate, and will investigate / diagnose / fix the cause. | |||||
| RE: Cannot connect table to new router :( | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Connectivity | |
| I'm not the best authority when it comes to connectivity issues (but it's the weekend and I'm all you got 😉 - Check to see if you've set your router to use only the 5ghz band. Since you've had your table a while, its Raspberry Pi may be an earlier model, which only Supports 2.4ghz (new routers should still Support that). If that's not the issue. Please send an email to Support@sisyphus-industries.com. | |||||
| RE: Table is getting "stuck" periodically | 4 Relevance | 6 years ago | mjends | Table Usage | |
| I have a variation of this problem -- but appears to be stuck in a cycle that repeats endlessly every 2 min. Brand new table, just unboxed, happens upon startup. I sent in a service request, but WAnted to also post here in case anyone else has seen this and has a fix / suggestions. I've been through the Support posts on table clicking -- arm and slide seem fine and are moving smoothly. More info below if you'd like to read on... (submitted to Sisyphus Support June 12, 6:40 PM Hi gang. WAs very excited to receive my metal coffee table today. Unp ... | |||||
| RE: Shipping Woes | 4 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Beta releases and bugs | |
| Your experience sounds very similar to mine, which you can read about in this thread: I believe the responsibility is on FedEx to use proper handling procedures. A shipment that weighs nearly 100 pounds and has a label on it that says two people are needed to lift it, should not be carted over uneven pavement by a single employee and rolled corner over corner, which is what happened to me. FedEx is being paid for this service and such practices, in my opinion, are not compliant. That said, modification to the package design could help reduce problems caused by rough handling. I suspect that the cardboard insert placed underneath the table could push against the metal Support arms that hold the Sisbot, if the side of the box were pressed in. If this insert were altered (for example, modifying the profile so that part of it sits under the outer edge of the table), then it would provide more resistance to being pushed into these Supports. | |||||

| ... this configuration -- so either this is a DIY change made by the prior owner, or it WAs a beta table of one of our employees, from early trials of colored lighting in our shop. We can't provide a quick diagnosis or fix without further info. 2 - from your picture, your coffee table "thinks" it's an end table (smaller field). This should be easy to fix by changing the table's configuration. First, make sure your table is running the latest firmware by doing a firmware update (in settings). To change table configurations go to Settings > Advanced > tap ... | |||||
| RE: Ball goes to rho=1 at end of track | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| I pinged Matt (our lead dev) - He thinks it may be a leftover from an old issue related to track-optimizing (removing points that are extremely close together). He suggests sending the log file to our Support desk: Connect to your table with you computers browser (not phone app). Go to settings > Advanced. Mouse click 7x on the "Advanced" banner on top (it will open more settings). Scroll down to Log Files, and open. Choose download all. Send files to Support@sisyphus-industries.com Also, he suggested you can try to delete the file (apache1) and then download it from the Community repo again. | |||||

| @finntoogood - Not sure what's causing the sound, but it obviously need to be fixed! If you can, please grab a short video of it when it's making the sound, and send to our Support team. You can start the Support ticket here. | |||||
| RE: A Question of Noise | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @uk-guy From your description, your Mini is working properly - that's WAy too much sound. Please take a video of it when it's making the most sound. And then start a ticket on our Support desk (which will allow you to upload the video). Our Support team is first rate and will work with you to figure out and rectify the problem. | |||||

| RE: New bee question | 3 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| I can relate to being an "old newb" - but I have the advantage of being surrounded by much younger staff, who can guide me through the jungle of mobile app interfaces. We don't have a discrete "user manual" for the app, but there are lots of useful explanations on the Support section on our site. In particular - it may be easier for you to become familiar with the app by connecting your computer to your table and using the browser version (which is for the most part identical to the mobile version). Instructions are on the lower half of the page here. As for your specific questions, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "connections." While I'm pretty familiar with the app, I'm not sure where you are seeing this, and in what context. If you can post a screen shot it would be helpful. Also, Alex in Support is a great resource and can guide you through the interface if you are stuck (I see you have interacted with her in the past). One central piece of advice - though all this feels intimidating at first, don't let it frustrate you. You'll get it over time, boulder by boulder.... | |||||
| RE: Bearing in theta motor damaged | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| ... can handle it :). Please contact our Support team - Support@sisyphus-industries.com. They can set you up with either the full Sisbot swap or just the motor. Make sure they know the age of your table and size - we've also changed the shape of the Sisbot's aluminum composite plate, and the Theta motor now comes with the pulley permanently attached. If you WAnt only the motor, we have to be careful to make sure the new motor will fit correctly in your original plate at the correct height. Bruce | |||||
| New command line tool to convert rectangular coordinates to THR | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Mark Roland | Other Development | |
| As part of my sand pattern maker project I added Support for saving artwork to the Theta-Rho (.thr) format, as well as Support for taking .thr files and plotting them in rectangular coordinates. I'm new to creating Node modules, but I've built upon my existing code in order to create a CLI to convert a CSV of x,y coordinates to thr coordinates. It's available at I have plans to build it up more, but I WAnted to share it sooner than later. I'm open to improvements and collaboration - just submit a PR! Thanks, Mark | |||||
| RE: Clicking/thunking noise sounds like skipping teeth on the gears when near the center | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| It's hard to diagnose the cause of noise via verbal description - but I'm fairly sure the noise is not gear teeth being skipped. It is most likely the Rho stepper motor "stalling." When unable to turn its shaft because of mechanical resistance (obstruction, higher than normal friction, etc.) it vibrates loudly. This can happen if Rho homing (finding the center) isn't working right, and the Rho axis hits its end of travel. It causes no damage to gear or pulley teeth. Our Support team is expert at troubleshooting and fixing issues. Please contact the Support desk, and if you can, take a video of your Mini when it's making the noise and out of position and upload it there. | |||||
