Hot off the press: The bug causing this has been fixed in the most recent firmware update - which doesn't help in your situation. However, you should be able to fix the "zombie hotspot" by resetting your Sisbot. To do this, while powered up, hold the button on the Raspberry Pi "hat" (small piggy-back board on the Green circuit board) for ~5 sec. After releasing, it should reboot and the hotspot be reachable. Once connected to your WiFi, you can then update. Let me know if this doesn't work.
I have had my table for 4 days and it has been working fine. I have been able to connect both through the iOS app and through Chrome on my Mac. I recently renamed my table from “Sisyphus” to “Doug’s Sisyphus” and have been unable to communicate with it since.
I have tried powering down my network and then the Sisyphus network appears on both the iPhone and Mac, but neither the iOS app or the browser can find the table.
I have reseated all of the cables. The power supply has a steady blue light. The red light on Raspberry Pi board is on steady. The Green LEDs on the Light Board are as follows: 12v solid; 3.3v solid; first USB blinking; second USB off.
What should I try next?
... clicked the THR file, right-clicked on RAW to "Save Link as" - and saved the THR file. Opened it in a txt editor to verify there WAs nothing but the coordinates in it.
All I can think of is I must have been sloppy with the whole save as steps above and it came through as an HTML download. All seems well again - the files uploaded to the table without issue. I know to check them now in the txt editor beforehand just to make sure.
Sorry, guess I am pretty Green at downloading code files from Github.
Appreciate the help from the community!
Mark
Hi Mark
On the html download from git, I'm guessing what you did WAs try to right click on one of the .thr files in the git hub file listing, and click save as. Unfortunately, what that did WAs send you to the html link, and not the file itself.
I suggest the following. Click on the .thr file link, which will open a page showing a lot of numbers in one frame, and on the right of that frame you'll see "Raw/Blame/History". Click raw which will open the file and you can "save as" from there. That should get you a good .thr file without having to know how ...
Just following up on this thread. I Set up a table for my father and then Set up port forwarding to forward ports 80, 3001, and 3002 from the table. I can connect to the http server on port 80 and can connect to the table from the app by entering their WAN public IP as a manual ip address. When I try to control the table from either the web interface or the app, it appears to be letting me do so. However, none of the actions seem to have an effect. Is there another port that it's using for the upstream connection to the table, or is there a different roadblo ...
Thanks for looking into this, @Bruce.
The playlist has the following (2-ball mode), run sequentially (not shuffled)::Attachspmrph1r (0/1)tensig2$ (1/0 - reversed)trialdn1 (0/1)
All are Set "reversible." All are Set to "force orientation." When I run the playlist, spmrph1r runs as expected. I can see the main ball in tensig2$ moving to the proper Theta in accordance with "force orientation," as expected, and tensig2$ runs reversed.
Unfortunately, though, at the transition between tensig2$ and trialdn1, sisbot inserts ye olde looping connection line—and then runs trialdn1 in reverse!
So something is not functioning as expected.
... coming up, I designed a 3D-printable clip to hold aftermarket bumpers in place along the rim.
I'm using the "50 pcs 8.5mm X 2.5mm special shape" bumpers from this $9 318 piece Set. These bumpers are $9 for 50 ($0.17 each, or $0.03 each if you include the value of the other bumpers included).
It takes about 18 minutes to print 6 of them on my printer. I printed them in black PLA-CF. They will be a little tight when you re-insert the wood ring. I WAs just able to press-fit them with the thinner side between the inner surface of the rim and the wood ring. I ...
... end) as they are added - and if a connector will be added. You can change the order of tracks in a playlist by editing the playlist and hovering over a track, then dragging it.
The other thing to be aware of is that tracks can be Set to "not reversible". Normally, "01" and "10" tracks are automatically reversed as needed to avoid connector lines. But not if the track is Set to non-reversible. You can change the Setting by clicking on a track (in the library) and Viewing its Settings.
Lastly - when you play a playlist, if you choose "shuffle" it will do it ...
... spins. But I do get assigned an IP address.IP Address: 169.254.51.61Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
With the IP Configuration Set to ManualThis WAs working before, but now it wont let me save the updates.
The Sisyphus app is stuck at "Waiting for WiFi Connection..." and never does anything else, even after being left open and next to the table for several minutes.
I tried the IP addresses 192.168.42.1 and 169.254.51.1 in the browser, while trying to be connected to the Sisyphus-Jeff Wi-Fi and they do not resolve either.
Thanks Ray. Some notes on your document:
This paragraph: "All Files must start with a 0,0 or 0,1 position. The end pair of numbers in the file must end with rho value opposite of the rho value in the first pair (if you start with a 0,0 you end with a theta, 0)" says three different and conflicting things. None of them are true. In fact, you must start with rho equal to 0 or 1. The theta values don't matter. The initial theta is treated as a "starting theta" and all subsequent thetas are relative to it. The ending theta does not need to be 0 or the starting theta.
This note "There are 2 'types' of instructions that the table can understand based on the difference between the theta values in the next Set of instructions in the data Set." is also not strictly true. The table only has one type of instruction, and that's a theta, rho pair. It moves that ball to that new position, interpolating in polar coordinates to get there. That's all. There isn't anything special about an erase (except the filename, which makes it run faster).
In my path generators some of them think in polar but convert to cartesian, and then all of them subdivide cartesian lines or bezier segments down until they are small enough and then output them as .thr polar. In that backend I also look for "too small" of polar movements and remove points to keep file sizes down. The values I use for cartesian subdivison and polar point removal are tuned to not make artifacts, but also not make too big of file.
Sorry yes the App talks to the Sisyphus APIs on standard port 80 (Http default) even though the wen and app interface is on port 3001. The Setup for the Set speed and brightness is better, I worked out the API calls better when I had a second look and had to post actual data to the APIs so play and pause using the Post data for the Set brightness should work better.
Correct, I have the start time Set to when Night Mode should start (and the table should turn off). I've only connected to my table with the phone App so far, when I first Set it up the time WAs correct but something happened since to make it change. I will try shifting the start/stop time to compensate as a temporary solution for now.
Thanks, Matt! I re-uploaded the SVG and made sure to Set the XYLA tag, but the resulting file seems to crop only the top half of the design (see attached screenshot).
It also seems to still put the design inside a circle instead of letting it fill out the full rectangle.

... along the WAy, the table dropped off my home network and couldn't be found / would have trouble being found via browser or app. Ultimately, I have had to unplug the table altogether to get it back on the network. Often when the browser or app would be searching for the table, it would stutter again, but usually once it connected it would behave normally.
I always assumed this WAs just standard behavior (I see the same kind of pausing of movement when uploading tracks), but now it is stuttering all the time even when I am not trying to access it via browser ...

I just got my Sisyphus Xyla — thanks so much for a gorgeous table!
I'm using Sandify to create my first track. As a guess, I Set the following dimensions for the machine:
Type: Rectangular
Min x (mm): 100
Max x (mm): 1350
Min y (mm): 100
Max y (mm): 650
However, when I export either to THR format or SVG format, when I go to upload the track to , the result seems to assume I'm using the older round table style, even if I select the "XYLA" tag.
Here's what it looks like in Sandify, the Sisyphus uploader, and the web interface for my Xyla. It seems to be correctly rectangular and has about the right aspect ratio in Sandify but looks squished after I upload it as if it were forced to the round table style.

Hi Chris,
Sounds like your strip has failed. Please contact our support team, and they will Set you up a new replacement.
Bruce
@robertgarvinsn yeah! so its all with the two python scripts I wrote for you, they run completely within blender you just gotta Set the paths.here's a video!

I WAnt to put pip on my table for the factory installed python2. This is so I can get a package to have the lightstrip in the table match my philips hue Setup. I keep getting permission issues for saving files, and 404 errors for the repositories in the table (cant get any package I WAnt). I feel like this thing is super locked down, which is good, but not for someone like myself. I struggle to create a backup as well. Any WAy to let me at this thing, no restrictions? Why is the entire thing Set as read only? Surely there must be a part of the Setup that is ...
@bruce
Hi Bruce,
I just received my table and have it Set up and drawing its first pattern. Very exciting!
