| RE: 1.10.13 update problem | 4 Relevance | 7 years ago | jaclynm | Beta releases and bugs | |
| I have the v1 metal end table, and ever since updating to 1.10.13, it's occasionally clicking and sounding like it's stuck and struggling to move. Would the centering issue affect these tables as well? The issue is most evident in the spiral patterns, which made me wonder if this update included new patterns that were straining the Machine. Thanks! | |||||
| RE: After applying 1.10.13 I am unable to operate to the table via web browser if I connect via hostname | 4 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Beta releases and bugs | |
| @pawliger - Thanks for the detailed report. I'm going to pass this along to Micah, who is most knowledgeable about connectivity issues. On occasion, I have run into table-name aliasing failing as well (with direct IP address working). Re-installing Bonjour print services and rebooting has fixed it for me (using a Win Machine). | Lost Connectivity after flashing new firmware. | 4 Relevance | 6 years ago | richard_saada | Connectivity | |
| ... I can find for identifying what table you have. Is my original kickstarter table a 36" coffee table? A 36" Servo? I guessed 36" coffee table, but who knows? This would be a useful info to have on the reflash page for when it tells you to set the config file. So I got the chip back in, and rebooted, connected to the table's wifi, did the advanced config to set the table type, and set the information to connect to my home WIFI. The Machine restarted, and now I'm stuck. The app can't find it while scanning. My Unifi router shows it's connected and give me ... | |||||
| HI Everyone!!! | 4 Relevance | 6 years ago | richshumaker | Table Usage | |
| There is no Say Hi Here Forum so I thought Table Usage would be the best place for this post! Hey Everyone my name is Rich Shumaker and I WAs lucky enough to get a table for my Birthday Present end of last year from my Amazing Sister. I have already used it to make some amazing TikTok's - I have download the user stuff to make my own stuff, that is going okay. I did have a question while I am here. How can you create a pattern that covers up the Homing Line as quickly as possible. I understand that the Machine must get it's bearings before starting but ... | |||||
| RE: Homebrew Accent Table Build | 4 Relevance | 7 years ago | makerbobdesigns | Table Customization | |
| A carriage approaches! Mechanical build is coming along nicely. I have a laser cut turntable with 480 teeth, slide mechanism is bonded precisely using alignment holes. I have the optical limit for theta using a short piece of black zip tie. Now the hard part: I have to get this precision Machine to mate to the table that is anything but precise. The band isn't round, or even oval. It is kind of egg shaped? The legs aren't at 90°, and there are only 4 screws holding down the top, but 5 holes. Time to abandon the futuristic Machinery in favor of old fashioned paper templates. Attachment : Undercarriage.jpg | |||||

| I am sure that the table will be awesome to WAtch, and I'll enjoy making new tracks for myself and the community, but my main purpose currently is the physical build and optimization. I am also looking forward to the programming aspect of this project. Some of the WAys that the physical interaction between Theta and Rho affect each other are going to be fun to dive into. It is pretty mind bending thinking about the differences between this Machine and my printer and laser cutter. I have a bunch of parts modeled in CAD, and I am starting the buildup of the R ... | |||||

| I use the term "debug" in a much more general WAy, since we have several code bases involved with Sisyphus - from firmware running on the microprocessor on the SisBotBoard, to the motion control code running on the Pi, to the code behind our mobile app. A lot of stuff that works during testing here, and on our devs' Machines remotely, does not always work on all Machines out in the wild (over 2500 currently). Debugging, the WAy I mean it, includes figuring out why new code doesn't work on someone else's Machine, even when they've followed your directions. S ... | |||||

| @kris9209 - I have no idea what the issue WAs, other than their Mini WAs not powering on. The key info from this thread is that this forum is not the place for troubleshooting table / Mini problems. We have a great Support team (in-house), and take great pride in our Support track record. Once again: please contact our Support desk for help if your table / Mini is not working properly. | |||||
| RE: Magnet shaving bottom of table | 3 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @rick-yeh This is definitely not normal function -- I will alert our Support team, but also, please start a ticket so we can keep track of it: follow up: Support is already working with you (they suspect the dust is from the cardboard WAffle-board padding which we cut to size in our shop) and have relayed instructions for removing it and inspecting the low-friction pad on the magnet for signs of wear or foreign material. Rest assured - we will make sure the problem is fixed! | |||||

| @gr8fdead Yes, if both your coffee table and your Mini are on the same network you should be able to switch between them. Please contact our Support team - Support@sisyphus-industries.com - and they will help figure out where the problem is and how to fix it. | |||||

| ... files is ".thr"). Theta is in radians, and is in normalized length (0 - 1, where 0 is at the center, and 1 is at the farthest travel out). Unitizing the Rho value makes all tracks universal for any size table. All moves are from point to point, but instead of being linear as they would be in a Cartesian Machine, they produce spiral arcs in this system. The simplest track file has just two points - an example being the "erase.thr" track: #erase.thr (start a line with # to make it a comment) #one vertex per line: Theta(real)<space>Rho(real from 0-1) ... | |||||

| I have a variation of this problem -- but appears to be stuck in a cycle that repeats endlessly every 2 min. Brand new table, just unboxed, happens upon startup. I sent in a service request, but WAnted to also post here in case anyone else has seen this and has a fix / suggestions. I've been through the Support posts on table clicking -- arm and slide seem fine and are moving smoothly. More info below if you'd like to read on... | RE: Shipping Woes | 4 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Beta releases and bugs | |
| Your experience sounds very similar to mine, which you can read about in this thread: I believe the responsibility is on FedEx to use proper handling procedures. A shipment that weighs nearly 100 pounds and has a label on it that says two people are needed to lift it, should not be carted over uneven pavement by a single employee and rolled corner over corner, which is what happened to me. FedEx is being paid for this service and such practices, in my opinion, are not compliant. That said, modification to the package design could help reduce problems caused by rough handling. I suspect that the cardboard insert placed underneath the table could push against the metal Support arms that hold the Sisbot, if the side of the box were pressed in. If this insert were altered (for example, modifying the profile so that part of it sits under the outer edge of the table), then it would provide more resistance to being pushed into these Supports. | |||||

| I'm not the best authority when it comes to connectivity issues (but it's the weekend and I'm all you got 😉 - Check to see if you've set your router to use only the 5ghz band. Since you've had your table a while, its Raspberry Pi may be an earlier model, which only Supports 2.4ghz (new routers should still Support that). If that's not the issue. Please send an email to Support@sisyphus-industries.com. | |||||

| I pinged Matt (our lead dev) - He thinks it may be a leftover from an old issue related to track-optimizing (removing points that are extremely close together). He suggests sending the log file to our Support desk: Connect to your table with you computers browser (not phone app). Go to settings > Advanced. Mouse click 7x on the "Advanced" banner on top (it will open more settings). Scroll down to Log Files, and open. Choose download all. Send files to Support@sisyphus-industries.com Also, he suggested you can try to delete the file (apache1) and then download it from the Community repo again. | |||||

| I can relate to being an "old newb" - but I have the advantage of being surrounded by much younger staff, who can guide me through the jungle of mobile app interfaces. We don't have a discrete "user manual" for the app, but there are lots of useful explanations on the Support section on our site. In particular - it may be easier for you to become familiar with the app by connecting your computer to your table and using the browser version (which is for the most part identical to the mobile version). Instructions are on the lower half of the page here. As for your specific questions, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "connections." While I'm pretty familiar with the app, I'm not sure where you are seeing this, and in what context. If you can post a screen shot it would be helpful. Also, Alex in Support is a great resource and can guide you through the interface if you are stuck (I see you have interacted with her in the past). One central piece of advice - though all this feels intimidating at first, don't let it frustrate you. You'll get it over time, boulder by boulder.... | |||||

| ... can handle it :). Please contact our Support team - Support@sisyphus-industries.com. They can set you up with either the full Sisbot swap or just the motor. Make sure they know the age of your table and size - we've also changed the shape of the Sisbot's aluminum composite plate, and the Theta motor now comes with the pulley permanently attached. If you WAnt only the motor, we have to be careful to make sure the new motor will fit correctly in your original plate at the correct height. Bruce | |||||
