| RE: New tool for creating simple algorithmic tracks | 19 Relevance | 8 years ago | jeffeb3 | Community Tracks | |
| I just pushed a new version that should make life easier on the "round tablers" here :). Select the "Polar Machine" and you can set your Machine size (radius in mm), or just leave it alone, because the coordinates will scale to your Machine. Selecting "Force Endpoints" will let you draw smaller things, and it will just dart out to the outside edge instead of scaling everything. Then, when saving the file, select the Theta Rho format instead of the GCode format. I don't have a sisyphus (I have a rectangular Machine), so please let me know if there are problems. You're the guinea pigs for both the polar Machine settings and the theta rho format. Also check out the circle lobe parameter and the star ratio parameter. They are new too. | |||||
| RE: Complex pattern creation | 19 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| ... prototype, but actually got started ten years earlier, working on a different drawing Machine that also had no pen-up ability - the first Eggbot. My goal then - creating single, continuous paths that look cool both while being drawn and when completed - remains the same now. Since I WAs not formally trained as an artist, I never learned to draw by hand skillfully. But I took to early 2D CAD software quickly, and soon WAs able to control the "pen" using simple algorithms (a.k.a. turtle graphics). Eventually, AutoCAD became my main tool. Most of the routines ... | |||||
| Suggestion for User Manual or Troubleshooting Support | 12 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Table Usage | |
| I recently received a new 3-foot table from the April preorder, and it is a much more impressive experience than the end table! That said, I discovered that the Sisbot moved during shipping, an issue I did not discover until I tried running the table and found that the Sisbot arm WAs striking the gear on the off-axis motor because there WAs not enough clearance. More precisely, when I ran the Erase pattern, I found that the table worked fine for about two-thirds of the radius, but when it reached a particular angle and distance away from the origin, sudden ... | |||||

| 2 things have hit me since downloading the beta. am using an iphone. And have passwords saved using last pass many apps that require you to log in enable last pass to find the relevant site automatically. on the beta- to log into the community section I have to search for the sisyphus account in last pass each time second this is that I have to log in to the community section each time I start the sisyphus app is there any chance of some persistence? j | |||||

| Thanks so much for thoroughly investigating and documenting your problem (and fixing it!). You are spot on in all your assumptions. The coffee tables are far more massive, and also far more likely to be mishandled during shipping. We will indeed follow your suggestions, and add this pre-run check to our instructions! | |||||
| RE: Location of Community Tracks | 8 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| Sorry - we're doing some maintenance work on Webcenter, which is evidently causing the slow down. Should be fully back up on Monday. Webcenter is the only place to get Community tracks. The upload tracks from your local Machine is only available for track files on that Machine. | |||||

| Talking about the resolution. If we can pick something that makes sense, then I'd rather not have it as an option. I'm trying hard to not write a manual 🙂 Maybe something like Rho/3000 would make more sense? I could compute the xy resolution for given Machine parameters. It seems a little excessive to have less than 1mm resolution, but if the Machine can handle it, then maybe it's conservative to just have too many points. | |||||

| I couldn't find the appropriate forum for this note, so this one will have to do. I WAnt to express my admiration for the responsiveness and doggedness of the development team. The app is vastly improved, booboos are acknowledged and rectified, and both the attitude and skill of the team merit fulsome praise. Gold stars all around! | |||||

| ... a cheap square one myself. it has a 1m x 1m size (80cmx80cm viewable sand).I will send you the images of the Machine when it is finished. I used a 6mm mirror plate as the sand Support surface and used fine baking soda as sand but I have 1. noise when the ball (16mm) is rolling and 2. the ball movement is not as smooth as the ones in the Sisyphus Table Trailers. In search for a solution I found this forum and this post. So I WAnt to kindly ask if it is possible for you to tell me what is used as sand Support surface and what type of sand (exact size, shape ... | |||||

| ... But WArranty is 1 year for everything except wood tables - which is 2 years. I would suggest checking the 2-wire cable which connects the LED string to the SisBotBoard under the table. If you follow it back (from the LEDs to the SBB) you will find a connection near the LED string and another where it attaches to the SBB. Try disconnecting and reconnecting them. If that doesn't help, please start a Support ticket at the above email address. We'll get it fixed ASAP. | |||||
| Sandify dimensions for Xyla table? | 4 Relevance | 2 years ago | [email protected] | Community Tracks | |
| I just got my Sisyphus Xyla — thanks so much for a gorgeous table! I'm using Sandify to create my first track. As a guess, I set the following dimensions for the Machine: Type: Rectangular Min x (mm): 100 Max x (mm): 1350 Min y (mm): 100 Max y (mm): 650 However, when I export either to THR format or SVG format, when I go to upload the track to , the result seems to assume I'm using the older round table style, even if I select the "XYLA" tag. Here's what it looks like in Sandify, the Sisyphus uploader, and the web interface for my Xyla. It seems to be correctly rectangular and has about the right aspect ratio in Sandify but looks squished after I upload it as if it were forced to the round table style. | RE: Track corruption on restore -- please add Backup/Restore | 4 Relevance | 5 years ago | john.hughan | Table Usage | |
| ... at startup, and then....nothing. No lights, no motion, no connectivity through the app. I've seen this multiple times in the past even after performing a proper shutdown. So I did what I always did: hard power cycled it by just unplugging it. This time it came up, but when I opened the app, I saw a notice I'd never seen before, saying the table had been improperly shut down, that a file error had been fixed, and that the table may have been reset to factory defaults as part of that fix -- which I discovered it had been. SERIOUSLY!? "Hey, your table wo ... | |||||
| RE: Sandify to Sisyphus App ?Best Ragrdas | 4 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | App Usage | |
| To do it locally (just on your computer and Sis): Create your track in Sandify. Under "Machine" tab, choose Polar, and the start and endpoint (must be center or perimeter). Hit the Export button - choose Theta Rho format, give it a name, don't add start or end code - hit download. Connect the computer you downloaded the track to, to your Sis using a web browser. From the Sis app running on your browser, go to Settings / Advanced / Upload file(s). Upload file to your table, and be sure to hit "save" once you see the thumbnail of the track show up. To share a track publicly on our "Community" repo - create an account on Webcenter. From there you can upload your tracks, choose whether each is public or not. All public tracks are vetted by our staff to assure they do not violate our terms of service (nothing overtly offensive, etc...). Once approved, shared tracks will be available using the Community tab on our app. | |||||
| RE: Offset bug-like event | 4 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Beta releases and bugs | |
| I'd need more info to be sure, but from your description, it sounds like the erase did not start from home (Rho = 0). The "clunk" might be the Rho axis running to its end of travel (which causes no harm, but sounds bad). I'm also guessing you are built the offset track using Sandify (which has an XY offset function)? All valid Sisyphus tracks must be "conformal" - meaning start and end points must be have Rho = 0 or 1. Our software should auto-correct any non-conformal tracks, but maybe there is something about your track causes this to fail. It would ideal if you could DM the track file so we can take a look at it. Also - if you are using Sandify, don't forget to choose to force the end points to either "center" or "perimeter" (after choosing "polar Machine". | |||||

| RE: Welcome to the Sisyphus Community forum! | 4 Relevance | 5 years ago | redpillbtc | Announcements | |
| I recently purchased a Sisyphus table and have been totally blown away. Thank you Bruce for creating such an incredible Machine and living work of art. Your designs are incredible I am interested to learn more about programming the table and learn more about the community of artists and users. Is this the primary social forum for the community? Or is there a Discord server or other places I should be looking? Anyone yet create a guide to learning how to program the table? I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to programming and a Mac user. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Peace y'all ! - DC | |||||

So I went online and purchased it. This is a beautiful product very relaxing and entertaining at the same time. Looking forward to hearing more about the arrangements and please let me know what I need to do on my end. Again thank you for your assistance and in resolving my issue. The bag of sand had a hole in it and sand WAs everywhere, about a 1/3 of the bag. I don’t know if that’s the cause of the problems but if you could please look over the messages that I sent you (your company) on Saturday and Sunday maybe that will help us. I do appreciate your assistance and the time your taking out to help me. But since the lights did not come on. You may have to replace this product and ju ... | |||||

| Tried scrolling last night. Does not scroll. Button is hidden. As I mentioned, app is most up to date version. I'll try updating via browser. EDIT: Putting this here for people who are reading thread with a similar problem. Connecting via browser circumvents the wifi issue in iOS that I mention. However, the IP address is dependent on your Machine and setup. You can find your IP address in the app under Settings -> Advanced. However, this did not resolve my problem. I'm still stuck in an endless loop. Emailing details now. | |||||
| RE: How do we share tracks we create in your DropBox area? | 4 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| Posted @n8ajz62. Have you run them all? I noticed they don't start and end fully at the center or edge (r=0 or 1). Hit the "Force Endpoints " button in the Polar Machine box. I think our program auto-forces this, but it's best to put them in the file. ps - some of those look pretty interesting - looking forward to running them! | |||||
