| ... table or Mini. Recall that the tail-ball is always located at the head-ball's Theta + Pi, and 1 - head-ball's Rho. From there you should be able to figure out the analogous head ball Parking tracks. However - we are not recommending doing so. I WAs initially excited when I discovered the ability to add 2-ball function, and the WAy it can produce very nice patterns with some algorithmic tracks. And the ball Park is designed symmetrically because head-ball Parking WAs planned. But we've recently stopped shipping with 2-ball mode, and are moving away from of ... | |||||
| RE: Both balls joining together and not separating | 13 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @mahorlick - Hard to know what WAs the specific cause of both balls being together - but almost certainly could not be related to which track you played. More likely, sand may have built up around the "ball-park" (barrier under the shade ring where the second ball is Parked and picked up). This can prevent the second ball from going all the WAy into the Park - if so, it can accidentally be picked up by the main ball as it goes by. There's no automated WAy of separating them - so the fix is removing the glass and doing it manually. Make sure you brush the sa ... | |||||

| Nearly every time I play a single track, it finishes, and then repeats. There seems to be no WAy to remedy this behavior. I have cleared the queue. I have checked "Pause between tracks". I have held my breath until my face turns blue. All to no avail. Right now, Mr Rambonnet's JJR-Sandify160 is playing. Queued after that is JJR-Sandify169...but first, of course (after carving up the beautiful doily with THE FERSHLUGGINER CONNECTING LINE back to rho=0) JJR-Sandify160 is REPLAYING. Cue "Arghh". Maybe JJR-Sandify169 will play next. I hope so. Maybe it will pl ... | |||||

I then have to dig back through to where I WAs, and it's very frustrating. Request:I'd like my phone back button to take me to wherever the app back button (on the top left) would take me. | RE: 2-ball kit settings - 36" RGBW Table | 9 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization
| Fora metal coffee table (36" diameter), the configuration setting is RGBW 2-ball (NOT servo). The radius should be set to 13.5. The purpose of the ball Park piece is to provide a WAy to purposely cleave the tail ball from the tail magnet (which is called "parking"). This happens when you play the special track "detach" and allows you to go from 2-ball play to 1-ball. The ball stays Parked until you play "attach". The placement of the ball Park is important - follow the directions carefully. | |||||

| Appreciate the multiple suggestions, and will discuss with devs. One thing to keep in mind is that high speed on tracks that have sharp corners (which "erase" completely avoids) is more likely to cause position error on metal tables and Minis (because they use steppers, which do not have position feedback). Position error does not cause physical harm - but can cause noise, distorted tracks, and losing the ball from hitting the ball Park. | |||||
| RE: Ball gets hung up | 5 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| My guess is that you might have some cumulative position error (tiny errors that add up). This is more likely to happen if you run at high speeds. We're working on some improvements to the motion control code, that should lessen this likelihood - but in the mean time, you can move (or remove) the plastic ball Park by carefully loosening it by prying it up with a non-sharp flat tool (butter knife?). It's held in place by strong double-stick tape. | |||||
| RE: Looking for some experienced users' advice. | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | dithermaster | Table Usage | |
| I run 2-ball frequently; I have Attach and Detach in my main playlist so it's kind of random. Yes, some tracks are not ideal in 2-ball mode. There is a flag for this, but the table does not use it yet. On my 2' side table I've never had lost ball or attached-to-main. The only problem I have is that after a while Detach stops working due to sand build-up in the ball Park, so I have to manually clear that. I'm wondering if maybe you have too much sand on your table. Did you use all of it, or about half-ish (we didn't use all the sand that came with the table). | |||||

| Hi gang. I’m a newbie and am very excited about the anticipated arrival of the metal coffee table that I just recently ordered. Q for you, as I’m new. I’ve seen multiple references to the two-ball + RGB upgrade, and now am not sure exactly what I might be getting when the table arrives. If I ordered the RGB metal coffee table, does it also come with the two-ball capability (ball Park + extra arm + extra ball) or is that an additional customization that is purchased separately? | |||||

What is the correct value for this? When i leave it blank i am getting the ball trapped in the ball Park WAy too often. Finally - What is the purpose of the "Ball Park" Piece? Is it really needed? Thanks!

| @Bruce - So I decided to play around with creating a track after logging into my table and seeing the rho, theta coordinates for the "tail" attach and detach tracks. Using those as a guide, I WAs able to create tracks that utilize the other side of the ball Park. Both have worked perfectly after multiple runs. AttachMain is attached below. **Note: I ran them with the tail ball already attached. I'm sure that both balls in the ball Park could be problematic for the magnets.** Attachment : AttachMain.thr | |||||

What may happen if you do not power-cycle your table after the update - The ball will fail to return to the center and begin operating in the wrong position. This is likely to result in one of the scenarios below: The motors will fault, showing a notification that there WAs a hardware failure. | Agreed! I use some tracks as a base before the next track, or to plow sand back to the center, so I’m not concerned about precision on those tracks, and would use faster speeds. For more intricate patterns, slower speed with more detail is better. In addition to the ability to change the speed of individual tracks in a playlist, I’d also like the ability to select whether to pause after each track. If I ran an E10, an attach or detach, or an Apache1 in reverse to push sand into the center, I would deselect the contemplation pause after those tracks. Possibly, for the attach and detach, program it to immediately begin the next track always. When editing a playlist, and selecting the add a track option, could the new track be inserted into the playlist at the point where you are in the list? Current behavior adds the new track to the bottom of the list, then you need to drag the track into the desired position in the playlist. What function does the “favorite” button have? Can “favorited” tracks be added to the left side of the edit playlist screen so they could be inserted easily? If so, I’d recommend that the attach and detach tracks default to “favorite” for easy insertion. If this is already a feature, please accept my apology for not having tested it! Do the tracks have the ability to attach multiple images in the library? I’d appreciate seeing images of the track in standard and reversed mode (for those that can be reversed), and with multi-ball (standard and reversed). Finally, I have a suggestion for an edge-plowing track. The magnet can go outside of rho 1, as it does during the Park and attach routines. Can a track be created to use the second ball to run consecutive reversing “c” patterns ending at each edge of the garage from the extreme reach of the 2nd magnet arm to clear the edges of the sand ridge back inside of the rho=1 position? Thank you!

| @burningamd, ah, right using the Community feature you can't see the track files. | RE: Ball going out of bounds on several tracks. | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | burningamd | Community Tracks | |
| @bruce I'll give that a look, it's only certain tracks though. Maybe the acceleration in those in particular are selectively causing slipping. But I suspect this is not the case because the track is otherwise OK and it seems very deliberately going off. For instance if you look at the photo of the triangular track, the track is "printing" fine, but as the triangle gets bigger it starts ramming the ball into the Park, eventually it over travels so much it knocks the ball off. It homes in the center fine and prints 45 other tracks perfectly. | |||||

But the distance beyond the normal plottable field and the ball Park is not proportional to table size). If you'd like to post pics of your custom erase track in action, or post snippets of the track and explain how it works, for those who WAnt to create their own, I'm fine with that. | RE: Attach/Detach the main ball | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks
| Yes, I have. I've been thinking about implementing head-ball Parking for a while. This would mean all tracks would have 3 possible playback modes: head-ball alone (normal 1-ball operation) 2-ball mode tail-ball alone The main concerns are reliability of adding another Parking / unparking routine on the other side of the acrylic ball-park, plus creating an interface that makes choosing between these easy and not a confusing mess. If you have programing ability, it is easy to create a track that emulates tail-ball only, using the head-ball - just take an existing THR file and replace every Theta with Theta + Pi, and every Rho with 1-Rho. These tracks will only look good for algorithmic stuff - this "inside-out" transformation is not kind to representational content! | |||||
