Has anyone made or thought about attach and detach tracks for the main ball? After running through tracks in two-ball mode, I decided to see what happened if I ran the tracks with only the tail ball. Spoiler: most of them look great and completely different than the normal track.  A couple dedicated tracks would make it easier to remove/add the main ball without removing the glass.

Yes, I have. I've been thinking about implementing head-ball parking for a while. This would mean all tracks would have 3 possible playback modes:

  1. head-ball alone (normal 1-ball operation)
  2. 2-ball mode
  3. tail-ball alone

The main concerns are reliability of adding another parking / unparking routine on the other side of the acrylic ball-park, plus creating an interface that makes choosing between these easy and not a confusing mess. If you have programing ability, it is easy to create a track that emulates tail-ball only, using the head-ball - just take an existing THR file and replace every Theta with Theta + Pi, and every Rho with 1-Rho. These tracks will only look good for algorithmic stuff - this "inside-out" transformation is not kind to representational content!

@Bruce - So I decided to play around with creating a track after logging into my table and seeing the rho, theta coordinates for the "tail" attach and detach tracks.  Using those as a guide, I was able to create tracks that utilize the other side of the ball park.  Both have worked perfectly after multiple runs.  AttachMain is attached below.  **Note: I ran them with the tail ball already attached.  I'm sure that both balls in the ball park could be problematic for the magnets.**

They probably aren't the most efficient, but I'm not a programming pro (or even amateur). DetachMain is attached here.
