| RE: Ballpark problem | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| We understand your frustrations - which is why we've discontinued two-ball mode as a "standard" feature (it can still be ordered as an add-on). Despite our concerted efforts to make it bullet proof, we haven't been able to make it 100% reliable. It's extremely unforgiving (as you've experienced) - any travel past Rho = 1 is at risk of hitting it. And yes, Community tracks may have out of bounds vertices, but they "should" be caught and clamped to 1 by our software. It's evidently not working all the time (and not every user has updated to the most recent firmware). In answer to your question: The ballpark is affixed using strong double-edged tape (carpet tape). To remove it, carefully work a "blade" (butter knife) in between it and the cushion material it's stuck to. Gently pry the ballpark upward while holding the cushion material Down at the rising edge of the ballpark so the cushion separates from it (and isn't pulled up with it). | |||||
| RE: Table now locking up on a regular basis | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | john.hughan | Table Usage | |
| Hi Micah, Thanks for the response and commitment to working towards a resolution. One thing that occurred to me after I made that post is that the only change I made to how I used the table shortly before observing this issue is that in addition to having the "Pause between tracks" option enabled, as I often do, I enabled the "Restart after 15 minutes" option as well, which I had never done. The table seemed to work fine with that for a few days, if memory serves, and then I started having these issues. Thinking that might be the culprit, I disabled that option, but the issues persisted once or twice per day. So then I also disabled "Pause between tracks", which is how I'm running now. And for the moment, things seem to be ok, although since the issue only seemed to happen at the end of tracks and many of the tracks I run tend to take 4-10 hours to play, my sample size isn't very large yet. But if the issue reappears, I'll report back with logs. If on the other hand the table continues to behave, I may try enabling those pause and restart options again in an attempt to reproduce the issue and write a solid problem report. But in the immediate term, I think I'm going to spend some time just enjoying the table working normally rather than debugging it. Looking forward to an upcoming firmware update that will offer a graceful shutdown and apparently offer more built-in resilience to unexpected outages. On that subject, adding a UPS isn't really in the cards for me. It wouldn't work well in the space where my table is located, and frankly it's just not something I'd consider for a non-critical item in my home as a workaround to an issue that really shouldn't exist anyway. Electronic devices I have that are far more complex manage to have a very high probability of recovering properly after an unexpected outage, so I don't see why that shouldn't be possible for this table. Anyhow, thanks again for the reply. I'll be in touch if I can provide any additional information to help chase this Down. | |||||

| ... could possibly be related to the occasional power losses you've mentioned. If power outages are a frequent occurrence, I would suggest plugging the table into a UPS. The tables do not use much power, 5-50 WAtts max, so it wouldn't take a very large one to keep it running for a while. To debug the cause of the table becoming inoperable after a few hours, I'd like to check the logs on your table. If you WAnt to dive further into this please restart your table, enable log sharing and send a message through out support portal letting me know logs are available. ... | |||||

| It is probable that we would be able to ship a Mini with a table in the same box. The Kangaroo option! You should ship it Down under first. And when anyone orders a big table they could add a mini as an optional add-on. I think you've really hit on something here! | |||||
| RE: Design Question on Base Orientation for Making Tracks | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | crsolomon | Community Tracks | |
| So let me try to rephase your answer 1) when you power up the table "theta" has an absolute meaning based on a sensor a) you can determine that position by looking at the position of ball at 0,1 after say an initial "Erase" routine. 2) After the 1st track play is complete - theta 0 now starts relative to the position of the ball when the new track begins. is that correct? Again - most tracks are symmetric so the starting theta 0 is irrelevant. It's just the ones that are pictures that end up "upside Down" or "sideways". | |||||

| Hey so I actually wouldn't upload that Who track the manual WAy. When I WAs making the track, I made the image too large and it crashed my table trying to generate the thumbnail. Had to reset it. I WAs told I would not have that issue uploading through the community though so I am WAiting to Download it like you are once it gets approved. As for other tracks that are not in the community, you can upload manually using a web browser. this is much easier to do on a computer. follow this link and scroll Down to Connecting to your Sisyphus with a browser. I tried probing the metal component with a zip-tie to see if it WAs just a soldering issue, like something had come lose, but it didn't produce the same effect as putting my finger on top of it. Assuming because we need something conductive? I will contact the helpdesk if that's the right place for this, but since I technically don't own the table myself, I figured I'd ... | |||||

| Thanks! I work in IT, and one frustration that's been consistent across several roles I've served in that field has been problem reports like, "It's not working." Sometimes even the problematic behavior isn't described, never mind what causes it. While I understand that the average user won't always know the value of providing a proper problem report or even what should go into one, that experience has caused me to try to write the kind of problem reports for others that I wish I received myself, i.e. ones that narrow Down the problem condition as precisely as possible and that include clear steps that reliably reproduce the problem. I've found that if you can tell a technician/developer exactly how to trigger the problem rather than giving them a vague report and expecting them to spend time experimenting in the hopes of maybe stumbling on the issue, then the problem is more likely to be investigated and fixed more quickly -- as seems to have occurred here! 🙂 | |||||

With the disclaimer that I realize this is a very non-trivial thing to code - a guy can dream, right? Similar to how the "Attach" and "Detach" files work, have customizable "Settings" files that you could edit and add to Playlists. The Settings file would let you change any available settings (and, some day, ones that aren't available yet...like "email me when the track is complete") so you ...

| Hello community, I am absolutely loving my table!!!!!!! The only issue I have is that i'm having a hard time making custom tracks. I WAnted to draw my company logo but every time I try the logo is HUGE or TINY. I cant seem to get the sizing correct. I have read the instructions front to back and still cant get it correct. Would someone in the community be able to help me out with some dumbed Down instructions? I'm relatively tech savy but this project seems to have beaten me. Cheers. James | |||||

One point of clarification - which I don't in any WAy expect to persuade you to reconsider making a scaled-down table-top version - but the giant WAves in the first link that I posted are actually "inside" a large, rectangular box with screens on two sides and that uses anamorphic animation to simulate a three dimensiona ...

| Bruce, Have you seen this? I bet there would be huge demand for a scaled-down, table-top version of this. The possibilities for what to display "inside" are limited only by the imagination. In addition to WAves, you could have dancing fire, bouncing balls, the solar system, three-dimensional versions of the geometric shapes from the Sisyphus table, splattering paint, moving sand, rain, etc, etc. Just like with the Sisyphus table, there could be a multitude of different animated patterns - with accompanying sound effects - that could be organized in ... | |||||

Just after my most factory reset, I noticed that the standard direction played normally. But then I WAnted to play a "01" track on an erased canvas, so in order to force the Erase track to play in reverse, I created a playlist that contained my "MoveOut" track -- whose only instructions are "0 0" followed by "0 1", then an Erase track that would play in reverse, and then my ...

| RE: New user, issues with uploading | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Beta releases and bugs | |
| The problems with uploading are known to us, and we're working on them. For now, I suggest doing one file at a time. Make sure your scroll Down the web GUI screen and hit the "Save" button (which isn't always visible unless you scroll). You don't necessarily have to WAit for the thumbnail image to be created before saving - but if you see the image, it definitely should work (depending on the complexity of the image, it may get done later as it is computed in "background"). Glad to hear your table arrived and delivery WAs smooth! | |||||

| RE: "Away" timing functions | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| Thanks for the suggestion - this is something we could add in the future. At present, you can use a plug timer and it will not hurt anything. The only Down side is that on power up, your table will always re-home and start over - not start where it last WAs. We have several people experimenting with home automation systems, and my guess is that this will soon be the easiest route to fully automating start and stop times using a preset schedule of your choosing.
