| You touch on an interesting Point. Yes, there is an absolute meaning of "up". It is determined by where "home" is for the Theta (rotational) axis - which is a physical sensor in fixed location. At this Point in development, we haven't been religious about handling Theta - as opposed to Rho, where things are not at all forgiving if you start in the wrong place. For now, up is the Theta heading after the first homing after bootup (sensored). Tracks in a playlist start (Theta-wise) wherever they find themselves. (Ability to control this will improve...) | |||||

| Just following up on this thread. I Set up a table for my father and then Set up port forwarding to forward ports 80, 3001, and 3002 from the table. I can connect to the http server on port 80 and can connect to the table from the app by entering their WAN public IP as a manual ip address. When I try to control the table from either the web interface or the app, it appears to be letting me do so. However, none of the actions seem to have an effect. Is there another port that it's using for the upstream connection to the table, or is there a different roadblo ... | |||||

| Thanks for looking into this, @Bruce. The playlist has the following (2-ball mode), run sequentially (not shuffled)::Attachspmrph1r (0/1)tensig2$ (1/0 - reversed)trialdn1 (0/1) All are Set "reversible." All are Set to "force orientation." When I run the playlist, spmrph1r runs as expected. I can see the main ball in tensig2$ moving to the proper Theta in accordance with "force orientation," as expected, and tensig2$ runs reversed. Unfortunately, though, at the transition between tensig2$ and trialdn1, sisbot inserts ye olde looping connection line—and then runs trialdn1 in reverse! So something is not functioning as expected. | |||||

| Following on from playing around with the flic buttons to control my sisyphus table via a home automation hub, I use home assistant at home so I have Set it up to control my sisyphus, Current Setup is When an erase track starts Set speed to 100%When erase track finishes Set back to 30%When I leave home pause the tableWhen I return Resume the table.You can also adjust the Speed and brightness of Sisyphus in home assistant with slide bars and Pause / Unpause etc with clickable scripts.If there is interest I can publish my whole config to Github for users, but to test you can add the following to your Home assistant configs to test Sisyphus if you do config.yaml, groups.yaml and scripts.yaml first you can see the status of Sisyphus without worrying about making the automation work (As it depends on having presence detection Setup) Ill Attach 1 file to each post (If you just use configuration.yaml) you will be able to see the Status of Sisyphus in the top header of home assistant. | ... at startup, and then....nothing. No lights, no motion, no connectivity through the app. I've seen this multiple times in the past even after performing a proper shutdown. So I did what I always did: hard power cycled it by just unplugging it. This time it came up, but when I opened the app, I saw a notice I'd never seen before, saying the table had been improperly shut down, that a file error had been fixed, and that the table may have been reset to factory defaults as part of that fix -- which I discovered it had been. | Sorry yes the App talks to the Sisyphus APIs on standard port 80 (Http default) even though the wen and app interface is on port 3001. The Setup for the Set speed and brightness is better, I worked out the API calls better when I had a second look and had to post actual data to the APIs so play and pause using the Post data for the Set brightness should work better. | |||||

| Correct, I have the start time Set to when Night Mode should start (and the table should turn off). I've only connected to my table with the phone App so far, when I first Set it up the time WAs correct but something happened since to make it change. I will try shifting the start/stop time to compensate as a temporary solution for now. | |||||

| When running a playlist, what is the relationship between the end Point of track 1 and the start Point of track 2? Because I particularly enjoy the effect of one track overlaying another, I have noticed that playing the same two tracks in succession does not always return the same result. For instance, running triald over tensig2, in 2-ball mode, sometimes yields a very pleasing Escherian tesselation effect (see attached), but this is seemingly unpredictable. | As several other users have noted, simple physics makes it inevitable that sand will accumulate at Rho 1.0. I take issue with a couple parts of this statement. First is the term "simple," and second, "accumulate". The latter is a minor quibble: it's obvious that if the ball's reach is confined to a perimeter, this will result in what I call the "terminal berm" (others have used "windrow"). This ridge does build up over time, but only to a Point, which is self-limited by the angle of repose for the silica we use. But my real disagreement is with using "simple" to describe the physics behind devising strategic plowing strategies using a rolling sphere on / through granular matter. It "seems" like it should be easy to create Sisyphus paths that move sand in a desired direction. Most people (including me) intuit that the erase pattern should move sand out when running from Rho 0 to 1, and in when running from 1 to 0. But this is greatly dependent on the tightness of the spiral (how close successive passes are). My empiric experience suggests simple Archimedes spirals have very little net effect on overall sand distribution. I tried several times over the past 20 years to devise an efficient strategy for "plowing" routines, and never succeeded. I'm not saying it is impossible - I'm pretty sure it is. But it's not easy, at least for me. However, dumb luck + paying attention, led to noting that tracks that repeatedly move in and out while precessing around the field, when run from Rho 1 to 0, are very efficient at plowing in toward the center. Case in Point: Create a playlist composed of erase then apache. Play it sequentially with repeat on, overnight. And yes, during our failed struggle to improve 2-ball reliability, I made several attempts at devising a plow-in track that started in >1 territory, hoping to break up and move the terminal berm into <1 territory - with extremely little success. Growing up and living in Minnesota, I (along with all my fellow northerners) am very familiar with plows. My take-home from this exercise: rolling spheres make piss poor plows. 🙂 (ps - would love to be proven wrong) | |||||

| I just receive m table and i love it. When I receive it it WAs working well in local connection but I couldn’t catch my home wi-fi, I know is a common issue. I think I should never try to resolve it. First i try to catch m home wi-fi with my phone and then also with my computer I doesn’t work.( I m on IOS, and mac) Then I try with the solution of holding the reset button and hold it +- 5 second and it WAs not working. This is the Point I start doing wrong. After that I try the full reset on holding the reset button like 45 second and WAs n ... | |||||

| I've encountered this problem on multiple occasions now. Basically, I have a Favorites playlist that I typically have on shuffle. Whenever community track "Reuleaux_tight" by dbullardWebcenter attempts to play, the table gets stuck going back and forth on a partial "coarse erase" and eventually just tracing a circle (not spiral) along the outside edge of that spiral. During this time, the ETA progress bar for the track in the app will often show either 0 time elapsed and 0 time remaining, or else get stuck at a separate Point in time, e.g. 1:37:20 elapsed and 35+ hours remaining, with neither of those figures changing as time goes on. I have the 36" 2-ball RGBLED Coffee Table running firmware 1.10.73. Below is a photo of what the table looks like when it gets stuck doing this. In this specific case, the table had just previously finished playing "goulet_cirstar5a_ee" by goulet. As shown below, a very coarse erase spiral has been drawn over it. At the time of the first photo below, the ball had just finished working clockwise from center to reach the outer tip of the displayed spiral and had begun to work backwards. At the time of the second photo, the ball had begun drawing a continuous circle (not spiral) around the outside edge, working clockwise, opposite the direction of the originally drawn spiral. If you follow the spiral from center outward tracing its clockwise path, you can see where the paths "converge", which is the Point where the ball switched to getting stuck in a counterclockwise loop. | Still having this issue. Seems to be related to the new keep/clear options from the last update. Any word on when a fix will be released? -edit- I'd take a reverted app version over a broken one at this Point. | |||||

| Hmmm… I think most owners relish the surprises that come from shuffled tracks playing over one another. That's the Point of shuffling. Erasing between all tracks eliminates that serendipity. My guess is that if you, to the contrary, enjoy erasing a track before playing the next, you'll just have to keep building your playlists the old fashion WAy. | |||||

| As @dithermaster relayed, you can use the jog interface to discretely move each axis. But we haven't yet added that to our API. But our dev is working now on doing just that (allowing you to stream in commands via POST calls). As for getting used to the polar system - it does take some time, but it gets easier the more you play with it. While both Cartesian and polar systems can describe every Point on a plane, there are some big differences (the Point at the center of the polar system can have different thetas, but still be in the same position (though having different "headings")). And there are what I think of as "symmetries": In the XY world, you can emulate curves using lots of little straight lines. Whereas in the polar world, you can emulate straight lines with lots of little spiral arcs. While there are some gotchas when converting Cartesian plots to polar plots, any path created in one system can be converted to other (with regard to positions along the path). | |||||

But the example you give, while it shouldn't cause problems (without the empty line), will first erase from center to outside (100 revs along the WAy), and then circle in the opposite direction about 180 times, staying at the edge (this is the move between Point 628.319 1 and Point -498.821 1). If you WAnt to force a 100-rev erase before a track that starts at Theta = -498.821, either add or subtract 628.319 to or from -498.821 to get the starting Theta of the erase move (depending on which WAy, CW or CC ... | |||||

| ... an x,y based image and converts it into the dialect of polar that the table speaks and just realized there WAs a reversal. just my notes of the tables polar preferences vs the Cartesian equivalent 1) quadrants are different - for the normal 1,2,3,4 in Cartesian , the table "sees" 2,3,4,1 for the image - just a Pi/2 rotation fixes that. 2) The table is exquisitely sensitive to the value of Pi when you cross the 0 angle line clockwise or counterclockwise , otherwise it "jumps" in movement 3) The 0,0 area is problematic area for drawing - best to avoid or ... | |||||

| ... be run and a "power brick" won't be unceremoniously sitting on the side of the WAll. I purchased a cord protector like I had for other items that run a cord a distance from a WAll outlet for the Sisyphus but the ferromagnet in the middle has to be forced into the protector, and leaves a hump, which I don't expect to be a problem, but you get my Point.
