I have the dual ball table top version, and when it's drawing a design and is at the largest radius, the magnet on the other end of the arm is attracted to the Center pivot and constantly sticks to it and unsticks, which is kind of annoying after a while. Can I put something in between to at least make it quiet?
Frustration!
I have created a simple two track playlist. The first track WAs written to begin at rho = 1 and end at rho = 0. The second track, (from Mr Rambonnet) WAs written to begin at rho = 0 and end at 1. In the playlist, though, both tracks are supposed to run in reverse.
However, when I start the playlist with the ball at the Center, the table first moves the ball to the perimeter, ignoring my instructions, as well as the notations in the app. (See attached).

The most frustrating thing about using the table is the unpredictability of track direction.
I have tracks which are written to run from rho=1 to rho=0, and sometimes WAnt to play them in reverse, but even when such a track has the "reversible" bit set in the app, the bot will often "insist" on running it as non-reversible. The result: starting with the ball in the Center, instead of running (as desired) from rho=0 to rho=1, the bot will seemingly ignore the reversible bit and take the ball out to rho=1, and play the track from there! ... is higher than the black finish of our regular rings. Though your pics show a difference, I would call it fairly subtle. On the small number of large scale installations I've done (3m in diameter), I made the LED shade ring from multiple pieces of wood that interlock around the entire 30+ feet of circumference, and painted the under-side white to increase the illumination. It's a long WAy to the Center of those monsters!
I have a lot of stainless steel furniture in my loft so when the limited edition stainless side table became available I impulse bought it, rolled my eyes at myself, and then sold my black metal side table to a friend. As one does. Every time I WAlked past the new table I found myself thinking, "Wow, the lights are really bright!" I wondered if there were different LEDs on the table but then I realized that the stainless steel ring is far more reflective than the black one WAs. WAs that the difference?

@heropup - Analog would be the WAy I'd go. I've thought about this in the past - like the ball circles the table at some distance from the Center, and "ticks" out or in once per rev, incrementing the ticks in Theta. The fresh "minute line" would be the minutes hand. And I guess on the hour it could draw a Rho line of different length or direction? Wouldn't look like an "ordinary" clock though!
To do it locally (just on your computer and Sis):
Create your track in Sandify.
Under "Machine" tab, choose Polar, and the start and endpoint (must be Center or perimeter).
Hit the Export button - choose Theta Rho format, give it a name, don't add start or end code - hit download.
Connect the computer you downloaded the track to, to your Sis using a web browser.
From the Sis app running on your browser, go to Settings / Advanced / Upload file(s). Upload file to your table, and be sure to hit "save" once you see the thumbnail of the track show up.
To share a track publicly on our "Community" repo - create an account on Webcenter. From there you can upload your tracks, choose whether each is public or not. All public tracks are vetted by our staff to assure they do not violate our terms of service (nothing overtly offensive, etc...). Once approved, shared tracks will be available using the Community tab on our app.
... in the browser instead of causing pauses on the Sisyphus itself. SVG files now read polyline elements, as well as smoothing lines that cross near zero. Previously you may have seen added bumps near the Center, as the polar mechanism would move between points.

I'd need more info to be sure, but from your description, it sounds like the erase did not start from home (Rho = 0). The "clunk" might be the Rho axis running to its end of travel (which causes no harm, but sounds bad). I'm also guessing you are built the offset track using Sandify (which has an XY offset function)? All valid Sisyphus tracks must be "conformal" - meaning start and end points must be have Rho = 0 or 1. Our software should auto-correct any non-conformal tracks, but maybe there is something about your track causes this to fail. It would ideal if you could DM the track file so we can take a look at it. Also - if you are using Sandify, don't forget to choose to force the end points to either "center" or "perimeter" (after choosing "polar machine".
I am developing educational programs for our science Center where we plan to let kids make their own turtle art with say Scratch, BeetleBlocks, Python and/or p5. The plan is to let a Sisyphus print their designs. However, I run in to some trouble importing svg-files from these platforms.
Attaching a svg from Beetleblocks for anyone to try out. If you make this work, I would be super happy!
Also, let me know if you have any other experience combining programming of turtle art with Sisyphus.

As several other users have noted, simple physics makes it inevitable that sand will accumulate at Rho 1.0.
I take issue with a couple parts of this statement. First is the term "simple," and second, "accumulate". The latter is a minor quibble: it's obvious that if the ball's reach is confined to a perimeter, this will result in what I call the "terminal berm" (others have used "windrow"). This ridge does build up over time, but only to a point, which is self-limited by the angle of repose for the silica we use. But my real disagreement is with using "simple" to describe the physics behind devising strategic plowing strategies using a rolling sphere on / through granular matter.
It "seems" like it should be easy to create Sisyphus paths that move sand in a desired direction. Most people (including me) intuit that the erase pattern should move sand out when running from Rho 0 to 1, and in when running from 1 to 0. But this is greatly dependent on the tightness of the spiral (how close successive passes are). My empiric experience suggests simple Archimedes spirals have very little net effect on overall sand distribution. I tried several times over the past 20 years to devise an efficient strategy for "plowing" routines, and never succeeded. I'm not saying it is impossible - I'm pretty sure it is. But it's not easy, at least for me. However, dumb luck + paying attention, led to noting that tracks that repeatedly move in and out while precessing around the field, when run from Rho 1 to 0, are very efficient at plowing in toward the Center. Case in point: Create a playlist composed of erase then apache. Play it sequentially with repeat on, overnight.
And yes, during our failed struggle to improve 2-ball reliability, I made several attempts at devising a plow-in track that started in >1 territory, hoping to break up and move the terminal berm into <1 territory - with extremely little success.
Growing up and living in Minnesota, I (along with all my fellow northerners) am very familiar with plows. My take-home from this exercise: rolling spheres make piss poor plows. 🙂

... of the table, the other one is docked in the docking bay thing, and I can see that the outer magnet is trying to pick it up as it swings by.
I've tried unplugging the table many times, and WAiting anywhere from 10 seconds to 20 minutes. I've tried a factory reset and the results are the same.
Is there something I need to do get the table set up correctly?
I'm not sure which category is the right one for this but this is my best guess.
I like to live-DJ my table fairly often rather than constructing playlists. I would love it if I could see an indication of the 0-1 nature of each track both in the track list and on the detail screen that I get when I click a specific track. I can often guess about whether a track starts at 0 or 1 or is reversible, but having something like "01R" or "11" would make this a lot easier.
In a similar vein, I have my own EraseIn and EraseOut tracks that just send the ball to the rail or the Center and then do an erase. Can I set them to run at the speed of the original erase track? Intuitively it looks like I can edit the status.json file and bump up the vel setting but I'd rather not break something by screwing around too far beyond the bounds of my knowledge.

During an elaborate design run the table made a terrible noise sounding like gears stripping. I could not pause the table so I unpluged it. When started up , sounding normal almost, it did an ,unknown to me, an erase track with an inward spiral. The Ball wobbled and jerked hesitated going around the table. I let it run for several rotations thinking it would stop jerking. The pattern it left WAs very nice. It looked like a twisted rope coil. Is there a WAy to safely remove the ballpark ? I mean, detach it from the table without causing damage underneath ? I really love my table, I mean, REALLY, but ALL my frustrations come from this ballpark.
During the first week when I got the table , I've tried a couple of tracks with two balls mode and it WAs nice to see it operate. But frequently, the second ball WAs getting stock on the "main park" of the ballpark (on the right side)... Or even worse, during a Single ball track run, the second ball WAs hooked by "mistake" by the secondary arm and ruins th ...
Thanks for trying it out @bruce - that means a lot to me! I'm glad you chose that pattern because that's one of my original designs.
I've normalized the radius and kept theta incremental, but not all patterns will necessarily end in the Center or edge. Options for that could be added with pretty minimal effort.
Hi,
A couple of times a day, the ball gets "stuck" and the table produces a clicking noise. I've reset the table to no avail. Observations:
Always happens near the Center. I _think_ it's during a homing operation.
Does not appear to occur on a specific track.
I've set the speed to something reasonable (~60%)
Can eventually pull out of it (after a minute+ of clicking).
Thoughts? Thanks for any help.

After few drawing sessions, I noticed the sand is being pushed to the outer portion of the circle, is there any easier WAy to make the sand evenly distributed without physically push the sand toward the Center?
Write the following 2 line text file

save it as "inwarderase.thr"
upload it and run it on the table - it will erase from the outside to the inside.
use 157.0795 if you WAnt it faster and coarser lines (pi*some even value - 100 and 50 here)
but be aware that any movement to movement near the Center except for a long spiral like that will be choppy.

I thought I should also share that I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of my wish list using the Sisyphus Siri shortcuts (which are amazing, by the WAy) and iOS automations. I can load the app onto a spare phone and schedule play/pause/color modes for certain times of the day, or even have a certain color mode and playlist activate when one of my calendar events (like a party) starts.
It also seems pretty simple to make a “wait” track that just keeps the ball on the Center or edge of the table for a ...
