| ... this configuration -- so either this is a DIY change made by the prior owner, or it WAs a beta table of one of our employees, from early trials of colored lighting in our shop. We can't provide a quick diagnosis or fix without further info. 2 - from your picture, your coffee table "thinks" it's an end table (smaller field). This should be easy to fix by changing the table's configuration. First, make sure your table is running the latest firmware by doing a firmware update (in settings). | Before we order, Ops & Maintenance questions | 14 Relevance | 7 years ago | lilia | Table Usage | |
| We love this table, but have some concerns before placing our order, and hoping you experienced users (or support folks) can answer: 1. Is the only power source for the table a cord to a WAll socket, or is the table "chargeable"? Seems having a cord run from table to WAll would be at best inconvenient and at worst a tripping hazzard. No cords in any of the photos. 2. The site has instructions for adding oil to the mechanism, removing the sand, etc. How often are such maintenance tasks required? Thank you! | |||||

| ... be run and a "power brick" won't be unceremoniously sitting on the side of the WAll. I purchased a cord protector like I had for other items that run a cord a distance from a WAll outlet for the Sisyphus but the ferromagnet in the middle has to be forced into the protector, and leaves a hump, which I don't expect to be a problem, but you get my point. Thanks! PS: As a further idea, have the power plug be one of those "Low Profile" plugs that point down instead of out, i.e. Attachment : IMG_1494.jpg | |||||
| RE: RGBW vs White | 12 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| Hi - Definitely, RGBW can also do White (any color temp. White you choose). We're phasing out our stock of natural and WArm White only strips, and I think we were selling them a bit less expensive (until gone). | |||||

| RE: Adding colored LEDs | 11 Relevance | 8 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| Hi @Heropup (and @Jessica), Thanks to both of you - Heropup for first posting this hack, and later, Jessica for reminding me of this color option hack and documenting your steps. I've by been playing with LIFX Z strips for more than a week now, and am pretty impressed. At first I WAs a bit skeptical - the whole "colored LED thing" has been around for a while, and it's usually done in a WAy that I find lacks subtlety (to put it mildly). I still don't think adding color to Sisyphus is essential, or even better - but the clincher (for me) is that the LIFX stri ... | |||||
| RE: Mini LED add | 10 Relevance | 5 years ago | dithermaster | Table Customization | |
| I think so. I haven't seen the mini without LEDs, but as long as the outside WAll is tall enough you can use an LED strip with adhesive backing, and tuck the wires and control module somewhere. I'd suggest getting one you can set the colors on, because if you get red only you might get bored (unless you really like red!) On my 2' side table I replaced the original White LED strip with an RGBW addressable one and ran color patterns on it using an Arduino microcontroller. They were not based on ball position like the factory strip, but they proved out the con ... | |||||

| I thought I would express my delight with my 3 footer in a traditional geek WAy: Ask for more features! Naturally, my real motive is to spark discussion of WAys to enhance it without breaking what makes it so amazing. Here's a couple of things that have been rattling around my head. I'm sure a few more crazier ideas will shake loose eventually. Live Title Card. This would be a thin, nearly border-less eInk display that could either sit on the table top or be hung on a WAll nearby. Its design should scream "museum title card". It could update occasionally ... | |||||

| I upgraded from the White to the RGBW - and I can get the new one to look exactly like the old setup (I generally like the "warm" White background). Fun to be able to switch the colors up when I WAnt! | |||||

| White LED temperature resetting | 9 Relevance | 6 years ago | john.hughan | App Usage | |
| I have a Metal Coffee Table with RGBW lighting running firmware 1.10.70. Recently I've noticed that if use the Sisyphus iOS app to change the White LED color temperature to any value on the slider other than the center value and then completely quit the app on my iPhone from the multi-tasking interface, when I relaunch the app, after the "Scanning for nearby tables" and "Connecting" phases complete, the table resets the White color temperature to the center value, and the slider in the app is repositioned accordingly. This is 100% reproducible. | |||||
| Request: Night Shift (white color temp based on time) | 9 Relevance | 6 years ago | john.hughan | Other Development | |
| On my smartphones and laptops I've really come to like the dynamic color temperature feature that causes the display to use a WArmer color temperature at night, based on the sunset and sunrise times of the current day at your location. I WAs wondering if something similar could be implemented for the White lighting mode on the Sisyphus tables. I've found that I like the coolest setting during the day and prefer the WArmer setting at night. Sisyphus clearly already knows the current time at my location even though I never had to specify a time zone -- I'm gue ... | |||||

| Thank you for the feedback! There is some interesting info in your reply. I’m going to try the fine White pendulum glass sand I posted above, as I suspect it’s the same as what I’ve seen in gallery pendulums. (I’ll try it with the bearing on a dinner plate to start before I rush to vacuum out the original sand.) This sand is bright White from what I recall, and very fine texture but not quite dust-like. I will post pictures and my feedback if I decide to use it in the table. | |||||
| RE: Color lights / 2 Ball retrofit kits? | 9 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| At his point, the 2-ball option is coupled with the RGBW lighting. What sold me on introducing colored lighting, WAs the absolute freedom to switch to White. There are 4 individual LEDs in each "LED" in the strip - with a dedicated White added to RGB. This means you have complete freedom - every color of the rainbow AND any temperature White you WAnt. AND, each one is individually controllable. | |||||

| This is exciting -- Thank you! Is the 2-ball set upgrade available w/o the RGBW? Also, I imagine so, but to confirm, will the RGBW show White or the WArm White only if I don't WAnt color? Will it be the same White-only? Appreciate the feedback. | |||||

| RE: White Light Flickering | 7 Relevance | 6 years ago | tgattis | Table Usage | |
| Replugging wires did not work for me, but what did work is using the app to take Brightness up to the maximum. As soon as I take the level down even a bit below max, they start strobing/flashing. When I opened it, I noticed I had one bad LED glowing red instead of White like the rest - not sure if that's the cause or not. | |||||

| This morning, I found my table, which WAs at rest, flickering. (See attachment). Finally tried the "calibrate pattern" function, which seemed to resolve the problem. However, while running a track later, the flickering resumed—and then stopped again, with no input on my part. I have rebooted, and there have been no recurrences. Anyone have a theory? | RE: Ultra-fine, ultra-white glass bead sand for pendulums | 7 Relevance | 7 years ago | EveryoneIsAnotherYou | Table Customization | |
| ... Anyway, some photos are attached comparing the detail. This sand had the following problems: 1. You need to remove or gently crush some globs that form in the bag (I didn’t, which is why my track looks chunky). 2. The sand contains microscopic bits of iron (probably from the manufacturing process) that cling to the magnetic ball and eventually need to be removed. 3. It is so fine that mistakes and ball-tracks in the design show, that aren’t supposed to show. 4. It is so fine it looks fake, like moon dust or the playa dust of Burning Man. Designs are cri ... | |||||
