| Table is getting "stuck" periodically | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | bobnik4 | Table Usage | |
| Hi, A couple of times a day, the ball gets "stuck" and the table produces a clicking noise. I've reset the table to no avail. Observations: Always happens near the center. I _think_ it's during a homing operation. Does not appear to occur on a specific track. I've Set the speed to something reasonable (~60%) Can eventually pull out of it (after a minute+ of clicking). Thoughts? Thanks for any help. | |||||
| RE: Cannot connect mini after most recent update | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | rkashden | Connectivity | |
| Yes, the same happened to me. I had to re-enter the network credentials. To do this change your wifi connection on your mobile device to the Sisyphus table. Then go into the mobile app and Set the table to my home's wifi. That resolved the issue. | |||||
| RE: REFFERAL | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Other Development | |
| @russelljdigi - I'm doing some digging on this. The referral program WAs Set up about two years ago, when we opened sales of our tables to the public (outside of Kickstarter) for the first time on our e-commerce site. The dev team that created it is no longer with us, and it's complicated. Will get back to you.... | |||||
| RE: How does Spread lighting work? | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | App Usage | |
| ... lighting. Each LED can be thought of as a pixel, and can be independently changed (both hue and brightness). However, unless you WAnt to dive into Python code and created custom presets, there is no WAy to easily Set up an interface allowing you to do so - so we currently have a few presets from which you can choose. "Spread" changes in accord to the ball's (head ball's, if you're running in 2-ball mode) position. You choose a primary hue / brightness, which follows the ball's Theta position (rotation). The size of this following "beacon" responds to the b ... | |||||
| Single-step mode? | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | john.hughan | App Updates | |
| I stumbled across the Sisyphus coffee table and WAs enthralled. While I enforced a mandatory "sleep on it" period before purchasing, I started looking into the custom track options like Sandify, Sisyphus for the Rest of Us, and Text Generator -- in addition to trying to wrap my head around theta/rho movement instructions in general, which WAs a completely new concept for me. Of course all of that research just ended up sealing the deal. 🙂 But now I'm wondering if there is -- or might someday be -- a WAy to run the table in "single-step" mode. By that I me ... | |||||

| ... occur after the previous track completes but not also after the erase occurs. I would also suggest that you allow the user to select the track they WAnt to use for the erase. For instance, I like to use spmrph1r for erases rather than the actual Erase track. This functionality would make a big difference to me because I like seeing each pattern without the previous pattern underneath it. And Setting that up now would require creating a playlist with an erase track between each actual track. That would be painful to create. It would also mean that a paus ... | |||||
| RE: tracks putting main ball in 2ball holder | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| @burningamd - Yes, position loss means losing steps (with stepper systems). It is not specific to Rho (linear) - Theta (rotation) can also suffer position loss. Rho position loss becomes apparent more quickly because the Theta axis has no physical limits, whereas, when Rho is out of position, it will soon cause the axis to hit a "hard limit" (physical stop). The images you posted look to me like Rho slippage, since Theta slippage tends to "smear" tracks rotationally. Your bad tracks look like pure Rho error. Errors like this can be caused both by software and/or hardware issues. So far, there is nothing in community thr files that we know of that could cause it (Rho is limited to values between 0 and 1). I suspect two possibilities: Lost steps from rapid change of direction in an axis. shaft slippage inside pinion (Rho) or pulley (Theta) from rapid change of direction in an axis. Though both are worsened with higher speed, shaft slippage (from loose Set-screws) usually worsens over time. On tracks that you find reproducibly produce the error, try running at very slow speed (I know, this takes patience :). If it is a weird software bug / or errant line in the track file, speed should not make a difference. If the track looks better or is fine at slow speed, that corroborates the above possibilities. | |||||

| Hello Micah, thank you for your answer. My question WAs not exact enough. The Fritz!Box is changing the channel from time to time. I think I always lost connection when it changed to Ch13. Because your solutions 1 and 2 are too complicated for me I just Set my router to a fixed channel 11. Did not lose connection since. Thanks and have a merry christmas Thorsten | |||||

| This is exciting -- Thank you! Is the 2-ball Set upgrade available w/o the RGBW? Also, I imagine so, but to confirm, will the RGBW show white or the WArm white only if I don't WAnt color? Will it be the same white-only? Appreciate the feedback. | |||||
| RE: dampening noise from table | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| I'm very noise conscious myself. Can you tell me what speed you have your slider Set at (if you have connected and changed the default speed)? Does it make sound when it's not moving (but still plugged in)? Thank you for describing the sound: whirring. That is very helpful! This is an ongoing hunt to make our system work as quietly as possible. | |||||

| The Hersey cursive Set is beautiful - but the sisyphus ball is fat and many of the touches similar to the Hershey had to be rejected due to muddy cross over paths as well as making sure the characters could connect as in cursive. It WAs a struggle to try to come up with the smallest size that allowed for a short message versus a larger, flowing letter that only allowed a few characters on a line. That said, I will look over the characters and see if I can smooth some more based on the Hershey shapes, but it's not a pretty task. Thank you for the re ... | |||||
| RE: Ball going out of bounds on several tracks. | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| I just responded to this on an earlier post of yours. I suspect that what you're seeing is a mechanical issue - possibly a loose Set-screw in the Rho pinion gear. This can cause intermittent position error (the Rho motor shaft can intermittently slip inside the pinion). Here is a video from our support team that shows how to fix it. If that does not correct the problem (or if you WAnt more help in troubleshooting) please contact us at [email protected]. | |||||

| Sorry for the delay - instead of WAiting for my web-devs to add *.lsp to the list of attachments, I just changed the extension (change back to .lsp after downloading). Since I wrote these routines back in ~2000 using much older ACAD versions, and I WAs very into debugging the conversion, there are two routines involved and some couple caveats: 1- This is a two step process: First, create a circle with center at 0,0 and radius of 1 (this is the just to remind you of the boundary of your drawing canvas). | Control multiple tables on multiple wifi networks from app - Y/N? | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | alex.b.ricardo | App Usage | |
| Hey everyone. First off, I love these tables!!!! I am fortunate to own two tables from you guys. One in my home. One in my beach house. Is there a WAy to control both tables off the same app knowing the two tables are on two different wifi networks? Or, do I need to Set up the app on a separate cell phone to control the second table? Thanks!!! | |||||
| RE: Sisyphus Table Text Generator - need comments please | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | crsolomon | Community Tracks | |
| I am going to attach 2 versions of the source code. version 1 just writes 3 lines of text you input. This is the Beta. version 2 does the same but writes the 2nd line backward (since the ball is on the right side at the end of the first. It's not the "preferred" version since writing the characters backward sometimes makes them less readable, but if the effect (which is cool) is liked, I could rework the alphabet data Set). Version 1 and 2 differ in a goto statement is either on or off to control motion Please note that the abc.txt file needs to be in the same directory as your program to make this work. Output file is written to same directory too. Attachment : Sisyphus-Text-Gen-v1.sb Attachment : Sisyphus-Tex-Gen-write-2nd-line-backwards.sb | |||||
| Design Question on Base Orientation for Making Tracks | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | crsolomon | Community Tracks | |
| Simple question on orientation of the designs that are not symmetric - what is the correct "top" point to use as the bottom and top of the design? I assume that the 0,1 point is the "top" of the table and base the design off that reference point. I have seen in the tracks that are in the Library that there is a range of choices - the face and serpent designs have a different base than the sailboat. I have written programs that can output a design in any angle, but I wonder if there are "rules" that should be Set or followed. Any comments? | |||||

| RE: New tool for creating simple algorithmic tracks | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | jeffeb3 | Community Tracks | |
| @acupofmud, On sandify, with the thr output, whatever you put in will be normalized to 1.0, so you can put in whatever size you WAnt. If it helps, 1.5feet is about 450mm, so for a good visualization, I would put in 450. If you WAnt the pattern to look bigger without editing the pattern Settings, then you can Set the table dimensions smaller, and it will still normalize to 1.0. | |||||

| ... to the actual lower range and/or step intervals the light strip is capable of. On my table, the slider needs to be pretty much on the right half of the control for there to be light, and many “steps” the slider travels don’t raise or reduce the light level. Maybe there is a WAy to “trim” the light and make the slider dim accurately with the light strips. (Minor quibble, as light level is one of those things you usually don’t adjust often, after it’s been Set once.) | |||||
