Hi James,
Looks like (from our records) you have a side table. 20-25 min. sounds a bit long - are you running the stock "erase" track or one you created? It's the only track that has a higher base speed (you still can use the speed slider to change it). It's Set to 3x as fast as other tracks. On the philosophical side, nothing about Sisyphus is fast - it's more about the process than the "finish."
If what you did WAs Set the Sisyphus table on top of the coffee table by slotting the legs of the former into the grooves of the latter, then it is worth noting that the wireless signals can pass through the top of the table, through the sand field and the glass; and not simply the sides or the bottom.
I've pondered this exact thing a few times (because I like awesome clocks). Something that draws new tick marks every hour and then draws something that progressively fills in the minutes would be pretty cool, and could have lots of variations. The trick is that the table draws tracks at whatever speed you have Set. So you'd need a special timecode-based track format (or, like has been discussed above, take over drawing directly from a PC).
I had a very brief power outage here (2 seconds or so), and afterward my 2-ball RGBLED coffee table is dead. After previous short power outages, the table reverted to hotspot mode, which WAs easily fixed, if still somewhat annoying. But this time, even after power cycling the table multiple times, the ball doesn't move, the table doesn't light up, and it doesn't join my WiFi network or show its own hotspot network. There are some blinky lights on th hardware under the table, but that's about it.
So I'm resigning myself to having to reimage the SD card, w ...
I forgot to update this. But two techs from Sisyphus reached out to me and even after spending a couple of hours trying to diagnose and manually fix the problem in a remote controlled SSH session to the table, there WAsn't any change, and finally they got to the point where they said they weren't even sure what to investigate next as a possible underlying cause. So we ended up backing up the folder on the table that contained my tracks and playlists, then reimaging the SD card using the instructions on the Sisyphus website. That DID get the table working ag ...
... fine, when I unplug it and plug it back in, the lights flash on the table twice and then it remains totally unresponsive again. I can't get the app to find it when I re-scan either. WAs hoping for help getting it back going again. I'm not very tech savy either, so I may need WAlking through it step by step. Many thanks, Matt
I have tried to Set up the retrofit kit. The table works, but I can't get the lights to work. I have tried the steps in the video of tapping the Settings bar 7 times, but I do not get the option under table Settings to put in what table I have. I have tried on the computer, my phone, a tablet...its all the same. What can I do?

This error does not prevent me from downloading new tracks 100% of the time. Around every 10 to 15 tries I will hit this error message, but the track also successfully downloads. Most of the time when I see this error, the track does not download successfully. Either WAy, this error has effectively halted my ability to download new tracks.

Great info. By the IP address I can tell that it is having issues with getting the wifi network Set up on the OS level.
While your table is running, manually hold the button on the Reset Button for 3 seconds. This FAQ page has an image of where to find the button: Don't follow the directions on that page, as that will do a hard reset removing your old Settings/tracks/etc.
The red light should flash 3 times when successful. After this, the correct Sisyphus-Jeff hotspot network should appear.
If that doesn't work, then we may need to escalate the recovery process to the article above.

... of the table, the other one is docked in the docking bay thing, and I can see that the outer magnet is trying to pick it up as it swings by.
I've tried unplugging the table many times, and WAiting anywhere from 10 seconds to 20 minutes. I've tried a factory reset and the results are the same.
Is there something I need to do get the table Set up correctly?
... at the correct speed. But after that, I WAnted to run an Erase and play another "Rho 00" track. So I added my MoveOut track (instructions of just "0 0" then "0 1") followed by an Erase that would run from the center in. This time the Erase played at "regular track" speed.
So it's clearly possible get a center-in Erase to run at the correct speed, but it also seems I'm able to make it fail somewhat consistently. Again, a playlist that simply has two Erase tracks back to back also results in the second, center-in Erase running at "regular track" speed.

... to an enhancement request.
I'm finding that the Erase track does not always play at double speed as it should. It seems to occur more often when it is played in reverse (outside in). Just after my most factory reset, I noticed that the standard direction played normally. But then I WAnted to play a "01" track on an erased canvas, so in order to force the Erase track to play in reverse, I created a playlist that contained my "MoveOut" track -- whose only instructions are "0 0" followed by "0 1", then an Erase track that would play in reverse, and then my ...
Just got in a coffee table and our family absolutely loves it!
The table is Set up and is functioning perfect. We immediately noticed the light is being reflected or basically emitted onto our WAlls/sofa/living room area. It seems to be coming thru between the glass and metal base of the table. The bumpers give just enough height to let the light escape! Thinking i will get some thick electrical tape and use some small pieces instead of the bumpers, that WAy the glass will almost be flush with the table. Any recommendations, thoughts?
... lighting. Each LED can be thought of as a pixel, and can be independently changed (both hue and brightness). However, unless you WAnt to dive into Python code and created custom presets, there is no WAy to easily Set up an interface allowing you to do so - so we currently have a few presets from which you can choose. "Spread" changes in accord to the ball's (head ball's, if you're running in 2-ball mode) position. You choose a primary hue / brightness, which follows the ball's Theta position (rotation). The size of this following "beacon" responds to the b ...
I stumbled across the Sisyphus coffee table and WAs enthralled. While I enforced a mandatory "sleep on it" period before purchasing, I started looking into the custom track options like Sandify, Sisyphus for the Rest of Us, and Text Generator -- in addition to trying to wrap my head around theta/rho movement instructions in general, which WAs a completely new concept for me. Of course all of that research just ended up sealing the deal. 🙂
But now I'm wondering if there is -- or might someday be -- a WAy to run the table in "single-step" mode. By that I me ...
Hi,
A couple of times a day, the ball gets "stuck" and the table produces a clicking noise. I've reset the table to no avail. Observations:
Always happens near the center. I _think_ it's during a homing operation.
Does not appear to occur on a specific track.
I've Set the speed to something reasonable (~60%)
Can eventually pull out of it (after a minute+ of clicking).
Thoughts? Thanks for any help.
... occur after the previous track completes but not also after the erase occurs.
I would also suggest that you allow the user to select the track they WAnt to use for the erase. For instance, I like to use spmrph1r for erases rather than the actual Erase track.
This functionality would make a big difference to me because I like seeing each pattern without the previous pattern underneath it. And Setting that up now would require creating a playlist with an erase track between each actual track. That would be painful to create. It would also mean that a paus ...
Yes, the same happened to me. I had to re-enter the network credentials. To do this change your wifi connection on your mobile device to the Sisyphus table. Then go into the mobile app and Set the table to my home's wifi.
That resolved the issue.
@burningamd - Yes, position loss means losing steps (with stepper systems). It is not specific to Rho (linear) - Theta (rotation) can also suffer position loss. Rho position loss becomes apparent more quickly because the Theta axis has no physical limits, whereas, when Rho is out of position, it will soon cause the axis to hit a "hard limit" (physical stop). The images you posted look to me like Rho slippage, since Theta slippage tends to "smear" tracks rotationally. Your bad tracks look like pure Rho error. Errors like this can be caused both by software and/or hardware issues. So far, there is nothing in community thr files that we know of that could cause it (Rho is limited to values between 0 and 1). I suspect two possibilities:
Lost steps from rapid change of direction in an axis.
shaft slippage inside pinion (Rho) or pulley (Theta) from rapid change of direction in an axis.
Though both are worsened with higher speed, shaft slippage (from loose Set-screws) usually worsens over time. On tracks that you find reproducibly produce the error, try running at very slow speed (I know, this takes patience :). If it is a weird software bug / or errant line in the track file, speed should not make a difference. If the track looks better or is fine at slow speed, that corroborates the above possibilities.
@russelljdigi - I'm doing some digging on this. The referral program WAs Set up about two years ago, when we opened sales of our tables to the public (outside of Kickstarter) for the first time on our e-commerce site. The dev team that created it is no longer with us, and it's complicated. Will get back to you....
