| Erase track special case problems | 17 Relevance | 6 years ago | john.hughan | Table Usage | |
| ... to an enhancement request. I'm finding that the Erase track does not always play at Double speed as it should. It seems to occur more often when it is played in reverse (outside in). Just after my most factory reset, I noticed that the standard direction played normally. But then I WAnted to play a "01" track on an erased canvas, so in order to force the Erase track to play in reverse, I created a playlist that contained my "MoveOut" track -- whose only instructions are "0 0" followed by "0 1", then an Erase track that would play in reverse, and then my ... | |||||

| This might be cheating, but simulating a Double pendulum is easier than making one, videoing it, and capturing its path: I've never tried it as a Sisyphus track since it doesn't appeal to me aesthetically (the path that is -- the Double pendulum itself I find very beautiful!). | |||||

| ... to “Pause between tracks / restart after 1Hr” so we can enjoy the finished look, but we spend a lot of time staring at erasers (especially when there’s a Double erase to prevent a connection line). Speaking of, this might be a bit more playlist code, but it would also be lovely if reversible erasers in a playlist could go ahead and be smart enough to inject a connection line before themselves if needed, to prevent a connection line after. This WAy there’s never a need for a Double erase. | |||||

| Hey folks: New to this community. I'm following an instructable to build my own version of this table, and have become obsessed with the following idea: I WAnt to create a workflow where I can execute motion tracking on a point in a video (specifically, a Double pendulum, or those used car sales windsocks lol), export that motion tracking data as a vector path, and have the marble draw out that pattern. Or that's how I'm thinking about it, theoretically. As best as I can tell, most of these tables use either thr or gcode files, but I have minimal exper ... | |||||

| That would work, but you'd have to Double check that the connected tracks are oriented correctly, and add the needed Theta move connector if not. | |||||
| RE: Ball gets hung up | 5 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| My guess is that you might have some cumulative position error (tiny errors that add up). This is more likely to happen if you run at high speeds. We're working on some improvements to the motion control code, that should lessen this likelihood - but in the mean time, you can move (or remove) the plastic ball park by carefully loosening it by prying it up with a non-sharp flat tool (butter knife?). It's held in place by strong Double-stick tape. | |||||

| RE: How to connect two tables to the app | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Connectivity | |
| Hmm - are you sure both table and Mini are connected to your home network? If you unplug your Mini, can you connect to your table? (and vice versa?) Please Double check that neither of them are putting out a hotspot (wireless network called "Sisyphus") that shows up on the list of available networks on your phone (which would mean it's not on your home WiFi). If you're certain they are both on your home WiFi, make sure you try the "rescan" button on the first screen that shows when you start the app (also, try force quitting the app and restarting). If none of that works, let me know! | |||||

| ... stay on the selected timezone even if your phone or browser timezone does not match. Erase Before Playing is an option on each individual Track page. This setting is per-track, so if you turn it on for "Sailboat", every time that track plays, it will run an erasing movement right before it. The currently playing name will be "Sailboat", it does not say "Erase" during those movements. It also plays the erase movement at a faster speed than the regular track movements. The Queue is a new WAy that the Sisyphus manages the upcoming tracks. It is a single list ... | |||||
| RE: Removing ball hide plastic | 5 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| Yes, you can remove it. But it's stuck in place by relatively tenacious Double sided tape, so use a thin non-pointed blade (butter knife) to pry it up around the edges, working slowly around the plastic edge, while firmly pressing down on the beige cushion fabric so it doesn't come up with the plastic. Also, you can change the configuration of your table so it won't bother to do the parking routine when it boots up. You can change the configuration by going to Settings / Advanced, then tap the "Advanced" banner at the top 7 times, which will then open the "expert settings". Look down the list of current info on your table, and note the Configuration. Scroll down to "Sisyphus settings >" and choose the same configuration, but without "2ball" in its name. | |||||
| RE: Ballpark problem | 5 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| We understand your frustrations - which is why we've discontinued two-ball mode as a "standard" feature (it can still be ordered as an add-on). Despite our concerted efforts to make it bullet proof, we haven't been able to make it 100% reliable. It's extremely unforgiving (as you've experienced) - any travel past Rho = 1 is at risk of hitting it. And yes, Community tracks may have out of bounds vertices, but they "should" be caught and clamped to 1 by our software. It's evidently not working all the time (and not every user has updated to the most recent firmware). In answer to your question: The ballpark is affixed using strong Double-edged tape (carpet tape). To remove it, carefully work a "blade" (butter knife) in between it and the cushion material it's stuck to. Gently pry the ballpark upward while holding the cushion material down at the rising edge of the ballpark so the cushion separates from it (and isn't pulled up with it). | |||||
| Add feature to play 2 designs at a time for more intricate patterns | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | daleyingst | App Updates | |
| The app updates have been terrific, especially being able to download tracks from the app. Now everyone can easily do it. I also love listing the drawing time. If there is company coming over, I will choose a design whose write speed matches the socializing time. I don't WAnt visitors fascinated with the table but the track taking longer than their visit to complete. Now I can plan one or more tracks to fill that time. If the talk slows down , WAtching the table never fails. Sometimes I play a track on top of the previous track. Sometimes the Double ... | |||||

| I WAs Double super tickled when I saw one of my tracks in the Sisyphus Mini Kickstarter video and one on the main page. Thank you Bruce for your kind words to the many track creators. Hopefully the higher volumes of the Mini (and a "Community" tab in the app) will bring even more talented creators. It must have been a weird feeling for you to see new and unknown stuff on your tables that previously only ran your own beautiful work. | |||||

| @Cameron - Thanks for the work you're doing on this. We've added API documentation to our dev's priority list, and with some pointers from him I WAs able to get my Flic button to control play/pause and brightness up/dn. Given the Flic is limited to three actions (click, Double-click, and hold) I don't see it as the ideal controller for Sisyphus - but it has definitely fueled our desire to explore more WAys to allow people to connect their tables to a range of IoT control schemes. | |||||

| RE: Night mode | 5 Relevance | 7 years ago | MicahR | Beta releases and bugs | |
| Hello, Bruce is correct, the table pulls time when connecting with the mobile app. The current implementation of night mode is less than ideal and will be improved as we continue develeopment. Here’s a list of caveats to keep in mind: Time is updated when connected to the mobile app. Unplugging the table will cause the clock to stop. On re-power the clock will start where it left off. You’ll need to connect with the mobile app to update the time. Connecting with a browser will not update. I have to Double check with my dev on this but I’m pretty sure this is correct. If you’re using a browser on you tablet this may be why the time on your table is incorrect. When we improve this functionality it will: Update time when connected to the bb. mobile app, browser or WiFi with internet access. This means as long as the table is connected to your home WiFi it will keep accurate time even if you power cycle it. We’re working on many updates to the app so I don’t have a date of when this will improve, but it is on our list and we’re doing everything possible to expedite develeopment. Please let me know if this is helpful or it’s still not operating correctly. Micah | |||||
| New tool for creating simple algorithmic tracks | 5 Relevance | 8 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| ... for creating path files for XY machines that use "gcode" (an industry standard file format). The cool thing about Sandify is that you don't need to be a coder to use it - you can simply use the web-based tool to generate different algorithmic paths. The resulting gcode file can then be downloaded to your computer. But - this file is a list of X-Y points, not Theta-Rho, which is the polar format used by Sisyphus :(. So I contacted @Markyland (who created the wonderful "Sisyphus For The Rest Of US"), to see if he could write a quick conversion utility. With ... | |||||
