| RE: Complex pattern creation | 16 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Community Tracks | |
| ... prototype, but actually got started ten years earlier, working on a different drawing machine that also had no pen-up ability - the first Eggbot. My goal then - creating single, continuous paths that look cool both while being drawn and when completed - remains the same now. Since I WAs not formally trained as an artist, I never learned to draw by hand skillfully. But I took to early 2D CAD software quickly, and soon WAs able to control the "pen" using simple algorithms (a.k.a. turtle graphics). Eventually, AutoCAD became my main tool. Most of the routines ... | |||||

| Thanks for sharing your findings. Although it's taken us considerably longer to take the idea of using a "magnetically coupled rake" through the glass seriously, we've recently begun to Test this idea out. Couple caveats: Be careful not only with the upper surface of the glass, but also the underside. If the "rake" (in your case a stainless bar) is pulled up too intensely by the magnet, it can chip / scratch the glass. We are evaluating the proper strength magnet to use (with felt between it and the glass), as well as a rake that is designed to work well without damaging the underside of the glass. Most stainless alloys are not ferromagnetic (or very weakly so). If you intend to use stainless, Test it with a magnet . Generally, 300 series are non-magnetic; 400 series are. | |||||

| Parking hits the spot! I have decided that this will be a truly mixed materials project. After a while thinking of a good WAy to make the acrylic sides of the drawing area with nice even bends, I thought it would be a good time to explore different materials. Aluminum angle would be easy to snip and bend every 5° or so, but it would be a pain to isolate the LEDs from it. I found some PVC edge trim at the local hardware store that is 1-1/8" tall. A bit shorter than I WAnted, but it will work out. I took my parking "valet" with me, and lo and behold, it fits ... | |||||

| I couldn't find the appropriate forum for this note, so this one will have to do. I WAnt to express my admiration for the responsiveness and doggedness of the development team. The app is vastly improved, booboos are acknowledged and rectified, and both the attitude and skill of the team merit fulsome praise. Gold stars all around! | |||||
| RE: Acrylic top for table? | 5 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bev | Table Customization | |
| We did Test acrylic early on on our prototypes - but abandoned the idea because of the static issue you describe. However - you needn't worry about the glass shattering. It's tempered, and not easily broken. In the unlikely event you drop it on a stone / ceramic floor, it could shatter (and the pieces could end up spread over a large area), but they would not be sharp - more like small irregular cubes. Here's the result of our early "toughness Testing" - Bruce (accidentally signed in as Bev) | |||||

| I used this today to create a Test file for diagnosing a really weird problem with my new table. It worked extremely well for my image, which admittedly is rather simple. I just uploaded the image and it handed me a .thr file. Attachment : WellHello.jpg | |||||

| Most tracks will work with any of those "% of sand field" ratios. However, some tracks might be more sensitive to it, such as my "ying yang" and "it's your move" tracks. They were designed on my 2' side table, which fortunately is in the middle of the ranges. I need to try them on my mini, and I'm curious what they look like on the coffee tables. I'd be happy to create custom versions for different size tables and ball sizes, but without a WAy to Test them, it's hard. | |||||
| Home Assistant Automation with Sisyphus | 9 Relevance | 8 years ago | cameron.meindl | Table Customization | |
| Following on from playing around with the flic buttons to control my sisyphus table via a home automation hub, I use home assistant at home so I have set it up to control my sisyphus, Current setup is When an erase track starts set speed to 100%When erase track finishes set back to 30%When I leave home pause the tableWhen I return Resume the table. You can also adjust the Speed and brightness of Sisyphus in home assistant with slide bars and Pause / Unpause etc with clickable scripts. If there is interest I can publish my whole config to Github for users, but to Test you can add the following to your Home assistant configs to Test Sisyphus if you do config.yaml, groups.yaml and scripts.yaml first you can see the status of Sisyphus without worrying about making the automation work (As it depends on having presence detection setup) Ill Attach 1 file to each post (If you just use configuration.yaml) you will be able to see the Status of Sisyphus in the top header of home assistant. This popup can happen several times before the track is actually rendered on the screen and I'm able to save it. When I click to save the track, the browser loses connectivity to the table, even to the point that I have to unplug it to regain browser connectivity. But then, I notice that the track that WAs supposedly uploaded, is not in the library. It seems that I can only be successful with very simple tracks (like s ... | |||||

| Hello and thanks for sharing this tip. I have just received my Mini Executive and found exact similar issue. I am going to Test this possible fix now and let you know UPDATE: this is indeed fixing this IP issue. I WAs not able to connect at the first reboot. For some reason, once connected to the hotspot, when trying to connect to my Internet it did not find my router at the beginning. I had to reboot once again and forget all previous connections to then be able to reconnect to the hotspot and find my router in a list. | |||||
| RE: Table is getting "stuck" periodically | 5 Relevance | 6 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| Though it can be tough to exactly identify the cause of noises or other issues remotely, the descriptions and the video definitely point to a problem with Rho homing - which works using a stationary Hall effect sensor positioned to sense a small magnet in the Rho carriage (sliding part where the mag-arms are attached). If it fails to sense the target magnet, the Rho axis runs into its end, and the motor "stalls" (which causes the "mini jack-hammer" sound). After it "thinks" it has moved the entire length of the Rho arm, it then backs out and tries again - which usually works when the problem is not serious. This does not harm the motor or mechanism, but obviously is undesirable. We Test every Sisbot thoroughly prior to shipping, but on rare occasion, things can shift during transit (the sensor's connector to the SisBotBoard can get loose, or the sensor itself). If our support team cannot help you fix it, the solution is to send out a replacement Sisbot to swap in. | |||||

I am WAiting for apple to review the version I would like you to use. (which has log-in credential persistence) and some other features. Look for 1.8.56 in the next day or so. The key, for me, WAs that in the set_brightness example, the body started with data= not {"data": So, if I follow your pause/play example, substituting 192.168.0.124 (my Test-table's local IP address) for your 192.168.0.13, AND change {"data":{}} to data={} it now works!

(Have not been able to leave it alone long enough to Test before a member of the family fires up an app and goes for another track!! cheers j
| RE: Latest iOS version not connecting | 5 Relevance | 7 years ago | mgraf68 | Connectivity | |
| Same troubles here. Plus I get really screwy behavior at times trying to pull up available WiFi networks (screenshot). Other times when the networks pull up, the app automatically switches to the "Switching Wifi Networks" screen before I even finish typing in the password. Then it will pop back to the network selection screen again, and all the networks are gone. This is one of the buggiest app updates I have ever seen. I even resorted to doing a factory reset and losing all my uploaded tracks and playlists, only to return to the same issues when updating to the latest firmware. I really hate being nervous about every single firmware update (and now app updates) with my table. Seems it has turned into that. ???? Seems like deficient QA Test procedures? | Sisyphus Table Text Generator - need comments please | 5 Relevance | 7 years ago | crsolomon | Community Tracks | |
| I have written a program (in Windows Small Basic) that generates 3 lines of text and writes out a .thr file to play on any table. I would appreciate if I can get some folks in the community to Test it and give comments. It seems pretty bulletproof at this point but the interface is very basic. The program has an attached data file with the character information for small and large letters as well as numbers (so it can be edited for improvement if desired) All it needs are these 2 files to be in the same directory - the .thr file will be written to the same place. Space is limited and the message has limits in size on each line - it will not let you exceed the boundaries of the table. I attached a picture of the output too. Anyone interested in trying this out? Attachment : Sisyphus.jpg Attachment : abc.txt | |||||

| ... support) shouldn't (we hope) cause any bad effects on the metal tables' functioning. But one thing you can see is a major change in homing. On boot up all tables do a "sensored home", moving each axis slowly toward a sensor (theta first then rho second) - which is unchanged. From then on the table "knows" where home is. Now, whenever you manually choose a different playlist or single track to play, it homes by "dead-reckoning" - moving both axes simultaneously, directly home (no need to "feel" its WAy). The practical effect is that, when you choose differ ... | |||||
