I'm not sure how feasible this is, but after playing with my Sisyphus for a few days, I've noticed noticed that certain settings definitely complement some tracks better than others.
For example, for geometric designs, it looks great to have the ball transition right into another track, but for some freestyle tracks, it would be nice to leave the finished product on display for awhile before the next track begins; personally, I also really enjoy seeing the ball rest in the Center of the table after a 10 or 00 track, but I'm less fond of having the ball stop out of sight in 01 or 11 tracks. Likewise, on some tracks, the comet mode really brings out the motion of the ball, but on other tracks, I prefer the rainbow mode to complement the overall design.
It would be amazing if we could add items to playlists that could accomplish this, like adding pauses to specific points in our playlist or changing the lighting mode/colors before certain tracks play (I've included a quick mockup of what I'm thinking the end result might look like.) I'd love to hear thoughts if anyone has any other ideas on how to accomplish this!

The other thing to be aware of is that tracks can be set to "not reversible". Normally, "01" and "10" tracks are automatically reversed as needed to avoid connector lines. But not if the track is set to non-reversible. You can change the setting by clicking on a track (in the library) and viewing its settings.

I'd love to be able to play several tracks in a row, then have the table pause after a particular track, before continuing on. An example usage of this would be to attach the second ball, do a "clean" pattern, draw the desired pattern, then WAit.
For tracks ending at the Center, I could create a track that stayed at rho=0 while theta did a hundred revs or so, but doesn't work as well if the ball is at rho=1. Also, it's difficult to get an idea of timing.

Thanks for jumping in with the very nice explanation @heropup! We're currently working on making it far easier to determine "center edge" (a.k.a. "0 1") track types and the ability to determine track reversibility - should be released very soon. One question: Why did you ad the third point? WAs that so the inward erase would not just follow exactly the path (in reverse) of the outward erase?
The problem WAs more just that tracks where the balls is wiggling in the Center at the start there would be a hole there and it would end on outside, then if I told it to erase it would erase inside to out leaving the hole. So I don't need this extreme, but I will remember this technique for later.
I found erase tracks from out to in and in to out in the community dropbox, though I don't remember whos folder now.

I'll give that a look, it's only certain tracks though. Maybe the acceleration in those in particular are selectively causing slipping. But I suspect this is not the case because the track is otherwise OK and it seems very deliberately going off.
For instance if you look at the photo of the triangular track, the track is "printing" fine, but as the triangle gets bigger it starts ramming the ball into the park, eventually it over travels so much it knocks the ball off.
It homes in the Center fine and prints 45 other tracks perfectly.

I've had it for 2 days and I'm already noticing the Center can get a little sparse with sand from the tracks, and often when I use erase it goes from the middle out making this worse (plus having to slide back in for the start of some tracks) Would be nice to have an erase that forces it to start from outside. You may WAnt to consider limiting your 2 ball runs to tracks that are symmetric 360°. Tracks that are asymmetric are best suited for 1 ball mode. IMO all tracks look better in one ball mode. I also think less sand is better. After some experimenting I settled around 15-16oz (1 1/4 of 2 bags) on a three footer.

As @dithermaster relayed, you can use the jog interface to discretely move each axis. But we haven't yet added that to our API. But our dev is working now on doing just that (allowing you to stream in commands via POST calls). As for getting used to the polar system - it does take some time, but it gets easier the more you play with it. While both Cartesian and polar systems can describe every point on a plane, there are some big differences (the point at the Center of the polar system can have different thetas, but still be in the same position (though having different "headings")). And there are what I think of as "symmetries": In the XY world, you can emulate curves using lots of little straight lines. Whereas in the polar world, you can emulate straight lines with lots of little spiral arcs. While there are some gotchas when converting Cartesian plots to polar plots, any path created in one system can be converted to other (with regard to positions along the path).
I stumbled across the Sisyphus coffee table and WAs enthralled. While I enforced a mandatory "sleep on it" period before purchasing, I started looking into the custom track options like Sandify, Sisyphus for the Rest of Us, and Text Generator -- in addition to trying to wrap my head around theta/rho movement instructions in general, which WAs a completely new concept for me. Of course all of that research just ended up sealing the deal. 🙂

I don't have much of a response on most of your points. I will say. decreasing and running my table at even 3/4 speed reduced some issues like balls going into the "ball park"

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear about (and see) some of your experiments. I understand about WAnting to hide the "homing line." There isn't a perfect (i.e. fast) WAy to get rid of it - it just has to be written over by subsequent tracks. The only time homing is done is on power up, and when "manually" changing tracks or playlists. We are working on making homing "smarter" - meaning, if the ball is at the periphery (Rho=1), the ball shouldn't need to go the Center (Rho=0), but can start where it is if the next track requested can start at Rho=1. ...

Sorry for the delay - instead of WAiting for my web-devs to add *.lsp to the list of attachments, I just changed the extension (change back to .lsp after downloading). Since I wrote these routines back in ~2000 using much older ACAD versions, and I WAs very into debugging the conversion, there are two routines involved and some couple caveats:

We're seeing the following issues here with the mobile app:
When the table is in hotspot mode and the app is started (mobile device connected to hotspot) it sits on the black logo screen for about 30 seconds before scanning starts and connection is made.
When attempting to connect the table to a wifi network and after selecting the network the screen will refresh to the settings screen not allowing the credentials to be completed.
@heropup - what is the firmware version on your table and mobile device model? I'm attempting to recreate your specific issue.
I understand the frustration and please know we are working very hard to improve the update process for firmware and app. Most recently we have thoroughly redone the firmware update process to ensure a fully functional firmware and prevent failed updates. On this front I am confident that many improvements have been made.
The most recent app update is a step backwards and this is unacceptable. As director of our software development I hold responsibility. I am committed to ensuring all further updates are an improvement so all customers do not have to worry about loosing functionality and will be excited about updates including new features. On this note we are nearing release of the first version of web-center that will drastically simplify adding tracks to your table as well as sharing tracks with others. We will be offering this on TestFlight for iOS and beta for Android in the coming weeks. The first release will not require a firmware update.
