For some of them, I can go into GET INFO and just remove the txt or HTML extension, and confirm I WAnt it to be a .thr file. On some it has worked. Others I end up having an error like the attached.
One time on a Custom track upload (forget which one) I had the table go into a noisy chattering mode like it WAs skipping gear teeth and scared the heck out of me that I broke it. So I am not entirely sure removing the file extensions is the right WAy to fix this problem.
Thanks,

Thanks for sharing your findings. Although it's taken us considerably longer to take the idea of using a "magnetically coupled rake" through the glass seriously, we've recently begun to test this idea out. Couple caveats:
Be careful not only with the upper surface of the glass, but also the underside. If the "rake" (in your case a Stainless bar) is pulled up too intensely by the magnet, it can chip / scratch the glass. We are evaluating the proper strength magnet to use (with felt between it and the glass), as well as a rake that is designed to work well without damaging the underside of the glass.
Most Stainless alloys are not ferromagnetic (or very weakly so). If you intend to use Stainless, test it with a magnet . Generally, 300 series are non-magnetic; 400 series are.
Hello,
How does the night mode schedule work under the hood on the pi?
is it possible to use a Custom cron expression instead?
thanks
Hi, looking for someone to make a Custom tupac track. Willing to pay a fee. Thanks!
@micahr I'm trying to update from 1.10.83 two days after you said you fixed the server numbering error, and I'm still seeing the update not complete (after an hour and a half WAit) and also seeing the "Time to Update" 6 seconds after initiating the update. I'm reluctant to re-image the SD card because of these errors and because I don't WAnt to lose my Custom designs.
We haven't forgotten this - just taking a while. But the a new addition to our shop tools is on its WAy - a vacuum former. This will enable us to create Custom protective bottoms soon.
Curious if anyone has tried to Customize for an outdoor (in a potentially damp, not wet) location? I see many issues, but just wondering if anyone tackled them. Most important, does the sand handle any humidity or will it clump and lose resolution? The rest I can see some Custom enclosure solutions.
... my TRS-80 I discovered x=sin(t) and y=cos(t) for clockwise from 12 and it WAs only later in school I learned the "correct" WAy of doing counter-clockwise from 3. I also work now in an industry where if there are multiple WAys of doing something you can be assured they are all in common use (although I'd love to have a talk with the genius who decided bottom-up raster images made good sense after decades of them going the other WAy). So when programming the Sisyphus I just observed how it acted to the coordinates I sent it and went from there, I never once f ...
I have found that if I put the table to sleep while the table is paused, WAking the table on its own does not cause the lights to come back on. The ball must move first in Order for that to happen. Unfortunately, this means that if I have "Pause after each track" enabled and put the table to sleep at the end of a track, I can't WAke it up with lighting to see the completed track without moving the ball first. For tracks that end at Rho 0, this will cause the ball to no longer be centered and to partially draw over whatever is currently displayed. It woul ...
I'm quickly finding a real desire for better organization both of the tracks loaded on the table and the community tracks.
The ability to sort loaded tracks by name would be nice, and the ability to organize into folders as well (like by type). Though you can approximate folders by making playlists (and just using them to create new playlists from not actually playing). This doesn't work all that well though since they stay in the track list (making it harder to organize others). Also the ability to Order playlists after creation would also be great. Currently it seems the Order is as added and that's it.
Additionally, the community tracks, endlessly scrolling isn't great. Categorizing would be nice. Artist/popular is a good start, but maybe some broad categories like drawings (for things like a turtle), "swirls/spirals" (for nearly full table designs like peoni), "geometric" (for designs that don't take full table like circam 2s, sisvort) . Those are terrible names but you get the idea.
... is a net increase of sand in the center.
Thank you both. I must have forgotten to subscribe and am only just now seeing these replies. I knew the tracks got scaled for the different sized tables and WAsn't sure if it WAs a detail issue or a sand issue.
Bruce - I did notice a return of sand to the middle with certain tracks. It would be great to have your suggested track Order in the FAQs to accomplish it.
Andy
Hello,
I'm new here. I just Ordered a Mini with the intent to sculpt a Custom ornate marble pedestal for it. I'm thinking I should have Ordered an EX? Not positive of the differences. Also, I'm interested in any suggestions for such a project.
Also, I'll need to cancel if I cannot take delivery by mid-July. Wondering if switching to an EX will help.
I am a regular at the annual MARBLE/marble sculpting symposium in Marble Colorado. MARBLE/marble Stone Carving Symposium – America’s premiere stone carving experience. (marbleinst.org)

... table or Mini. Recall that the tail-ball is always located at the head-ball's Theta + Pi, and 1 - head-ball's Rho. From there you should be able to figure out the analogous head ball parking tracks.
However - we are not recommending doing so. I WAs initially excited when I discovered the ability to add 2-ball function, and the WAy it can produce very nice patterns with some algorithmic tracks. And the ball park is designed symmetrically because head-ball parking WAs planned. But we've recently stopped shipping with 2-ball mode, and are moving away from of ...
I have the cheapest kickstart mini...no led..no glass..etc. I have created a Custom housing for it and would like to add an led strip.. I see some type plug in. Just WAnted to know if I can plug a reg type led strip and it work without a bunch of added cost/ effort.
Thanks
If you don't WAnt to create your own, we do occasionally create Custom tracks for a fee. I can't remember the cost, but drop a request on our support desk with what you'd like, and they'll get you a quote.
@bruce I have a Custom-built sand table that I have developed on for a couple years now and as part of that I have written quite a few Lighting Modes for an Adafruit Dotstar LED strip.
I have a demo video and all of my code is available on Github. I would be happy to contribute these to the community.
Is there a WAy to connect the dots between what I have created and the LEDs in the Sisyphus table?
... cycling the table fixes it for a few hours, but a) the problem returns a few hours later, and b) given prior experiences of how the table behaves after power is cut, I don't really like power cycling it.
This is unfortunately just the latest aggravation of several in the 5 months that I've had my coffee table. First I ended up having to perform multiple factory resets, each of which restored the table to a slightly different state -- and each of which caused me to lose my downloaded tracks and Custom playlists. Then I had a firmware update brick my table, ...
... on your Sisyphus, but it will definitely cause problems if someone tries it on a different size Sisyphus. (The reason is that all rho values are scaled by the table's sand field radius. But the distance beyond the normal plottable field and the ball park is not proportional to table size). If you'd like to post pics of your Custom erase track in action, or post snippets of the track and explain how it works, for those who WAnt to create their own, I'm fine with that. But we do not approve tracks for download on our Community or forum that cannot be played ...
Im having the same issues with a lot of the "DougO" tracks, so much that i hate to run one.
When creating these Custom tracks, does it allow the creator to make a track that can go outside the boundaries ever so slightly of the arms reach? Another gripe with some of the tracks is that they're just too messy along the edges. Im sure most Sisyphus owners are perfectionists and this probably bugs the hell out of them...it definitely does for me lol
Update :
Just discovered that in the saved playlist, you can add and delete tracks. It has a nifty feature where you can increase/reduce the repetion of the tracks with a +/- button. For eg, you do not have to add the erase track repeatedly, instead increase the count by tapping on the ’+’ button. Solves a huge discomfort of editing tracks.
