| New table stuck on "HOMING YOUR TABLE" | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | ben.table | Table Usage | |
| ... of the table, the other one is docked in the docking bay thing, and I can see that the outer magnet is trying to pick it up as it swings by. I've tried unplugging the table many times, and WAiting anywhere from 10 seconds to 20 minutes. I've tried a factory reset and the results are the same. Is there something I need to do get the table set up correctly? | |||||
| Light emitting from space under glass | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Lemmuhj | Table Usage | |
| Just got in a coffee table and our family absolutely loves it! The table is set up and is functioning perfect. We immediately noticed the light is being reflected or basically emitted onto our WAlls/sofa/living room area. It seems to be coming thru between the glass and Metal base of the table. The bumpers give just enough height to let the light escape! Thinking i will get some thick electrical tape and use some small pieces instead of the bumpers, that WAy the glass will almost be flush with the table. Any recommendations, thoughts? | |||||

| ... them to the inner surface of the Metal skirt, near the bottom edge, using the arms holding the sisbot as a guide for even spacing. This makes a cover that is WAshable and breathable, as well as nondestructive to the table. I can't promise that a cat won't try to snag its claws on it, though. | |||||
| RE: dampening noise from table | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | YoungWillem | Community Tracks | |
| Hi Bruce, My Mini EX also makes the whirring noise while in operation. It stops when I pause the track and returns the moment I hit play. It is loud enough to be heard from across the room, even at the slowest speed. It definitely drowns out any noise of crunching sand. It gets really loud when switching to full speed. Friends of ours have a Metal side table. I don't remember their table making any noise at all when we visited. I have tried capturing this on video. I am not sure how well it comes across: | |||||
| RE: Table is getting "stuck" periodically | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | mjends | Table Usage | |
| I have a variation of this problem -- but appears to be stuck in a cycle that repeats endlessly every 2 min. Brand new table, just unboxed, happens upon startup. I sent in a service request, but WAnted to also post here in case anyone else has seen this and has a fix / suggestions. I've been through the support posts on table clicking -- arm and slide seem fine and are moving smoothly. More info below if you'd like to read on... | On the 3 foot diameter coffee table, the Metal rim that supports the glass is about 1/2 inch in width, so I would not use any of the strips that are wider than that. To be sure, I'd choose something as small as possible. Also, I think the surface mount seals, rather than the flange mount, are the ones you should be looking at. The other consideration is the material; there seem to be two types: EPDM and silicone. The former is used in the seals found on refrigerators. Silicone, however, is oil-resistant and in my experience, offers even greater durability. However, I don't know if silicone might be too slippery for the glass, since some silicones don't have the "grippy" feel that other synthetic rubbers have (I used to have a silicone phone case, which I hated because it kept slipping out of my hands). I think EPDM should work fine but I can't be sure. Based on these considerations I would look at 93085K21, 93085K93, 93085K52, 93085K35, 9141K168. | |||||
| RE: Enable two ball mode? | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | dithermaster | Table Usage | |
| When you assembled the table, did it have the tail ball catcher on the table area (where you added the sand), and did you receive two Metal balls? I think the mobile app or table firmware require an update to add the 2-ball features. I don't have it yet so I can't tell you specifics. When it is enabled, I believe two new tracks are added "attach" and "detach" which add and remove the second ball. | |||||
| RE: 1.10.13 update problem | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | jaclynm | Beta releases and bugs | |
| I have the v1 Metal end table, and ever since updating to 1.10.13, it's occasionally clicking and sounding like it's stuck and struggling to move. Would the centering issue affect these tables as well? The issue is most evident in the spiral patterns, which made me wonder if this update included new patterns that were straining the machine. Thanks! | |||||
| RE: Rho offset check | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| It is possible for position errors to accumulate with stepper systems (our Metal table versions), though I've only seen this when running at higher speeds. Sensored homing will correct any errors - but this now only happens at bootup. We changed from sensored homing for all homing, because it requires each axis to home slowly, and Theta first, then Rho - and instead use "dead reckoning" for all homing after the bootup sensored homing, because it is far more efficient (quicker). If you do see a central mound increasing over time, power cycling the table will force a sensored home, and should fix it. A full reset is unnecessary. We plan to add a "Do sensored home" function to our GUI in the future. | |||||

| As a tease, my winter break project: I have an RGBW addressable LED strip installed and working on my 2' Metal Sisyphus table! Here is a short video: It's really just a prototype but I've been talking to Bruce about contributing some dynamic animations and whatnot. | |||||

| dampening noise from table | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | davidp | Community Tracks | |
| My daughter figured out a WAy to make my table much quieter. She first noticed that the sisbot (if that's the right term) made no noise at all when disconnected from the table. However, she could feel it vibrating. So she figured the problem WAs the transference of that vibration to the table. The table itself then acts like a drum and amplifies the sound. Next, she cut eight octagonal rubber WAshers out of a wide rubber band. She added two to each of the four screw-fasteners (also, pictured below). The octagonal shape made it easier to position the w ... | |||||
| RE: options to become available soon? | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| @ j.m.ratkos - In addition to the options you mention (bottom cover, 2-ball play), RGBW lighting is also coming. But I can't yet give a precise timeline yet, although I can tell you I have multiple tables running with these options now for evaluation in our prototyping lab. The hard part is fitting the options into our production line and support system. The last option - a servo-Sisbot for installation into 3' Metal tables is possible, but not sure how many would be willing to pay the increased price for more speed (price would go up >$600). | |||||

| The Metal legs on the 36" coffee tables are just a shade too short for the horizontal ring to allow a Roomba to clean under the table. I made an easy fix - I took two felt furniture pads, stuck the adhesive sides together (felt sides out), and put those under the table legs. On my hardwood floor, it still allows the table to be slid easily, and gives the Roomba just enough clearance to function. Photo attached. Doug Attachment : IMG_3803.JPG | |||||
| RE: One vs Two balls on 3' wooden table | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Table Usage | |
| Somewhat off topic, so apologies in advance. Would there eventually be an option to upgrade the Metal tables with two-ball support? The lack of a "garage" for the second ball is certainly an issue, but I can think of some WAys this could potentially be addressed... In somewhat related news, out of curiosity, I wrote a primitive program that would convert existing tracks into a track that would show what the path of the ball would look like if it were attached to the opposite end of the arm--that is to say, what the second ball would draw in isolation. Th ... | |||||
| RE: Shipping Woes | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Beta releases and bugs | |
| Your experience sounds very similar to mine, which you can read about in this thread: I believe the responsibility is on FedEx to use proper handling procedures. A shipment that weighs nearly 100 pounds and has a label on it that says two people are needed to lift it, should not be carted over uneven pavement by a single employee and rolled corner over corner, which is what happened to me. FedEx is being paid for this service and such practices, in my opinion, are not compliant. That said, modification to the package design could help reduce problems caused by rough handling. I suspect that the cardboard insert placed underneath the table could push against the Metal support arms that hold the Sisbot, if the side of the box were pressed in. If this insert were altered (for example, modifying the profile so that part of it sits under the outer edge of the table), then it would provide more resistance to being pushed into these supports. | |||||

| ... support) shouldn't (we hope) cause any bad effects on the Metal tables' functioning. But one thing you can see is a major change in homing. On boot up all tables do a "sensored home", moving each axis slowly toward a sensor (theta first then rho second) - which is unchanged. From then on the table "knows" where home is. Now, whenever you manually choose a different playlist or single track to play, it homes by "dead-reckoning" - moving both axes simultaneously, directly home (no need to "feel" its WAy). The practical effect is that, when you choose differ ... | |||||
