| ... little too blunt for an otherwise really elegant Design. I thought I should also share that I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of my wish list using the Sisyphus Siri shortcuts (which are amazing, by the WAy) and iOS automations. I can load the app onto a spare phone and schedule play/pause/color modes for certain times of the day, or even have a certain color mode and playlist activate when one of my calendar events (like a party) starts. It also seems pretty simple to make a “wait” track that just keeps the ball on the center or edge of the table for a ... | |||||
| Request: Ability to add color mode changes and pauses to playlist | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | benrinker | Other Development | |
| I'm not sure how feasible this is, but after playing with my Sisyphus for a few days, I've noticed noticed that certain settings definitely complement some tracks better than others. For example, for geometric Designs, it looks great to have the ball transition right into another track, but for some freestyle tracks, it would be nice to leave the finished product on display for awhile before the next track begins; personally, I also really enjoy seeing the ball rest in the center of the table after a 10 or 00 track, but I'm less fond of having the ball stop out of sight in 01 or 11 tracks. Likewise, on some tracks, the comet mode really brings out the motion of the ball, but on other tracks, I prefer the rainbow mode to complement the overall Design. It would be amazing if we could add items to playlists that could accomplish this, like adding pauses to specific points in our playlist or changing the lighting mode/colors before certain tracks play (I've included a quick mockup of what I'm thinking the end result might look like.) I'd love to hear thoughts if anyone has any other ideas on how to accomplish this! Attachment : mockup.PNG | |||||
| Multiple layers in Sandify | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | bobnik4 | Community Tracks | |
| Hi, Today sandify.org released an update that allows you to define shapes as layers and connect them together. In the preview window, you can drag and drop shapes and see how they will be drawn as you configure them. This takes track Design to a new level and the combinations are nearly endless. I'm hoping we'll see some Sandify-generated submissions in the upcoming Sisyphus pattern contest. Sandify is a community effort, led by a few volunteers, myself among them. I conceived and implemented this particular feature, so I'm definitely excited to see it completed and I hope you like it! We're always working on the "next cool thing", so feedback is always welcome. -Bob | |||||

| Which arm/magnet to use?? | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | Lemmuhj | Table Usage | |
| Dont know how else to describe it. Ive had the main ball get dislocated from the magnet on certain tracks. I've had to physically lift the glass and reset the ball where i THINK its supposed to go so it can get picked back up by the main magnet. After running a few tracks, especially "erase", i notice the speed is like 10x faster, where it almost sprays the sand instead of setting the usual defined tight lines. I also notice that a few of the tracks dont match the Design in the track listing or it even creates it in half the size. I took it upon myself to look under the table and locate the other magnet of the arm and place the ball there...it works as normal now...how can i avoid all of this and have the correct magnet pick up the ball? Hope this makes sense or resonates with others because its a pain in the A$$ | |||||

| Bruce, Have you seen this? I bet there would be huge demand for a scaled-down, table-top version of this. The possibilities for what to display "inside" are limited only by the imagination. In addition to WAves, you could have dancing fire, bouncing balls, the solar system, three-dimensional versions of the geometric shapes from the Sisyphus table, splattering paint, moving sand, rain, etc, etc. Just like with the Sisyphus table, there could be a multitude of different animated patterns - with accompanying sound effects - that could be organized in ... | |||||

| I too love Paint mode. I find myself using mostly White (highlights detail), Paint (great for high "delta Theta" tracks), and Rho Fade (great for high "delta Rho" tracks). Dithermaster I don't WAnt to spoil any mystery that you might WAnt to keep in your life, so you might WAnt to skip the rest of this post, but for anyone else who's curious, Paint involves a "brush color" that varies over time. As the ball moves around, it paints table regions with the currently active "brush color", and any region of the table that WAs painted a given color stays that c ... | |||||
| RE: Any way to back up track and playlist libraries? | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | heropup | Table Usage | |
| I can't answer the question about backups, but I can provide some background on the Dropbox tracks. Before the Community tab in the Sisyphus app WAs functioning, some of the earlier recipients of the table (mainly through the Kickstarter campaign) had learned about the track file structure and developed some of their own tracks. The browser version of the app allowed uploading of track files from the computer directly to the table. So in order to share tracks, some of us uploaded them through various methods (e.g., Dropbox, GitHub, etc.) to make them avai ... | |||||

| ... so that they can be accessed via dropdown instead of having to maintain a file listing the hex codes of the colors you like so that you can retrieve them after experimenting with something else. I'm picturing an expansion where the color picker section of the app with the color wheel and sliders simply has a Save button that would allow you to save the current hex code with a custom name, and then there would be a dropdown with all of those custom names available, where selecting it would jump to that hex code -- but not click Save just in case the user WA ... | |||||
| App feature suggestions + bug | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | tgattis | App Updates | |
| Overall, the app is pretty solid (I'm using Android), but there a few minor tweaks that would be nice improvements. 1) The ability to set the pause interval between tracks on the playlist. I really like having it pause so I can admire the finished Design, but I don't like having to open the app to hit Play for the next track every time. I'd prefer to set the pause interval to a couple of hours, which is enough time for me to catch most of the finished Designs without having to pull out the app several times a day to get it started again. 2) Lower priority, but would be nice: the ability to set time windows for lights vs. no-lights (similar to Night Mode). Bright sunlight during the day makes the lights kinda irrelevant, and I'd prefer them to be off (do they burn out after a certain number of hours?), but I do like it brightly lit at night. 3) Testing/bug fix: on a Pixel 3 with Display-Font Size setting set to Largest (us older folks don't have the best reading vision, lol), some screens cut off the bottom, especially key buttons during the set-up process, and the screen wouldn't scroll up. Giving every screen the ability to scroll up would solve the problem. Thanks for considering. Love the table! | |||||
| RE: Philadelphia eagles | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | mikeheck | Community Tracks | |
| I found a drawing of the Eagles logo, loaded it into Adobe Illustrator, did an autotrace and then saved as .svg file for the table. It could have been refined more. I had no luck using with the "Sisyphus for the rest of us" utility. I know my solution is many extra steps. I'm sorry that once I loaded the Design to my table, deleted the original .svg file, and there doesn't seem to be a WAy to download or I'd post it for you Attachment : Capture.PNG | |||||
| RE: DIY Table Theta Question | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| I guess, like most people, I pay most attention to the things that most interest me - in this case, Rho position control is paramount, while Theta is "all relative," As for Sisyphus Designs starting at "12 o'clock" - it never occurred to me to see it that WAy. Designs simply start "where they are" :). The first Design after homing starts at Theta = 0 (regardless of the first Theta coordinate value in the *.thr file). What actual direction that is in relation to the physical world didn't concern me (since I create algorithmic tracks). If, however, I WAs using ... | |||||
| DIY Table Theta Question | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | makerbobdesigns | Table Customization | |
| I am building my own accent table for my office at work. I am going to add a mechanism inspired by Sisyphus Design, but completely from scratch, with my own software and control. I can post updates if Bruce is OK with it. Question: In order to use community (I also WAnt to publish) tracks, I need one bit of information that has conflicting posts. What direction would this .thr file be drawn? (0,1) (314.159,0) Positive theta. Is it CCW or CW? There are many posts that explain that theta "home" is at the "top" of a freshly homed start. There are also pos ... | |||||
| How long does table homing take? | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | ohlrogge | Table Usage | |
| I just received a new 36" Sisyphus table as a gift. I have connected to it via my phone App. I tried running a Design on it. I got a message on my phone saying "HOMING YOUR TABLE This should only take a moment." That WAs about 30 minutes ago and I am still seeing this message. The ball has gone around maybe 60 degrees in a single portion of a circle, and the lights are on. Periodically the ball moves a bit and/or the table beeps. Apart from this nothing is happening. How long is this expected to go on? Is this normal behavior or is this an i ... | |||||
| RE: Ultra-fine, ultra-white glass bead sand for pendulums | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | EveryoneIsAnotherYou | Table Customization | |
| ... Anyway, some photos are attached comparing the detail. This sand had the following problems: 1. You need to remove or gently crush some globs that form in the bag (I didn’t, which is why my track looks chunky). 2. The sand contains microscopic bits of iron (probably from the manufacturing process) that cling to the magnetic ball and eventually need to be removed. 3. It is so fine that mistakes and ball-tracks in the Design show, that aren’t supposed to show. 4. It is so fine it looks fake, like moon dust or the playa dust of Burning Man.
