| Firmware 1.9.9 announcement | 1 Relevance | 7 years ago | MicahR | App Usage | |
| We had a recent server issue that resulted in some tables loading pre-release firmware. If you were affected by this your table will have firmware version 1.9.9 on it and alert you of a new version, currently 1.10.7, but will not update. Currently there are three resolutions to this. Replace the SD card with a new one that has updated firmware: If you'd like a replacement SD card, send your mailing address, name, Order number or backer number to [email protected] Advanced - manually update your firmware by connecting to it using SSH: see this article for the steps: Update Firmware using SSH Advanced - re-image your SD card: see this article for the steps: Steps to re-image SD card In the mean time, be aware that you are not currently missing any features as a result of this issue. However, you will not be able to update your firmware until one of the above three options is taken. We have only seen this issue on tables with firmware version 1.9.9. If you're experiencing similar issues on a version other than 1.9.9, please email details to [email protected] prior to taking the actions listed above. We're very sorry for the inconvenience and are continuing to develop our firmware and server for increased robustness and a better user experience. Micah Roth, COO | |||||

| @Don, "Can anyone point me to some reading material that might help me progress into a more complex track making game?" Welcome to my world! First off - although I'm pretty sure when it comes to sand plotting, I have more area under the curve than most - I'm no authority. But with regard to compexity - I would divide it, for now, into those tracks that are generated algorithmically, and those not. So the pumpkin track, and any tracks that you recognize (including text), are non-algorithmic. All the others -'crop circles', spikey or swirly/loopy spirals, and fractals - are created via multilayered recipes (instructions) -aka algorithms. Both branches are infinite design spaces. Markyland created Sisyphus For The Rest Of Us so that people could more easily explore non-alg space. If you're interested in algorithmic pattern space - start googling. All you need to do is place the connect-the-dots in the right Order :). | |||||

| @heropup - Analog would be the WAy I'd go. I've thought about this in the past - like the ball circles the table at some distance from the center, and "ticks" out or in once Per rev, incrementing the ticks in Theta. The fresh "minute line" would be the minutes hand. And I guess on the hour it could draw a Rho line of different length or direction? Wouldn't look like an "ordinary" clock though! | |||||

| Now serving! I aim to use these two servos to control dual sided ball parks. One Per side of the table for a total of 4 ball locations. If I can get the balls out of the play area, I should be able to have more room for cleanup tracks that go outside Rho 1. Tomorrow is testing day for the servos and optical end stop limit switches. | Trouble maintaining connection to table from Safari | 1 Relevance | 8 years ago | jessicarunnels | Connectivity | |
| Hello all! I have had my table several months now and am no less enamored of it than I WAs on day 1. I am having a recurring problem that I am hoping someone might have some insight on. I have a 36" table running 1.4.0 (I previously had the beta, but had a sisbot replacement and did not re-upgrade). My computer is a MacBook Pro running High Sierra 10.13.6 and my preferred browser is Safari (but the problem is reproducible in Firefox and Chrome). Right now, I am having a very unreliable connection to the table. If I use the IP address, it will usually con ... | |||||

It is GORGEOUS!!!! The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes, most of which WAs spent hacking away at the table. I am certain someone with tools and skills could do it faster and better, but the truth is that you cannot see the damage created unless you take the glass top and the ring off of the table. This setting is Per-track, so if you turn it on for "Sailboat", every time that track plays, it will run an erasing movement right before it. The currently playing name will be "Sailboat", it does not say "Erase" during those movements. It also plays the erase movement at a faster speed than the regular track movements. The Queue is a new WAy that the Sisyphus manages the upcoming tracks. It is a single list ...
| RE: Mac downloads .thr files as HTML or TXT | 1 Relevance | 8 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| Sorry for this hassle (and thanks Juggler!) - this will all be a whole lot easier once we get our sh*t together and have time to organize a decent repo in one spot on our site. In the interim - the easiest thing to do is follow Thejuggler's directions for downloading a zip file of the whole repo (don't worry - it ain't that big). Then browse it and you will rapidly find the thr files. Once you extract them you can delete the zip. Those files should be golden (open them and you should see a long list of lovely numbers (two Per line)). Notice that the first Rho is 0 or 1, as is the last. Feed these files to your Sis. | |||||

| Thanks, Ross - nothing could be better than positive feedback, plus great suggestions for the future! Everything you mentioned is absolutely feasible and something I've thought of before - except - the clean display of Track info (and data Per user choice) that is external to the mobile / browser GUI. That is brilliant! Done right (as you say, "museum title card") it could be a fantastic option. If you or anyone else has the skillset and desire to work on something like this, we will definitely support it! | |||||

| RE: Table now locking up on a regular basis | 1 Relevance | 5 years ago | john.hughan | Table Usage | |
| Hi Micah, Thanks for the response and commitment to working towards a resolution. One thing that occurred to me after I made that post is that the only change I made to how I used the table shortly before observing this issue is that in addition to having the "Pause between tracks" option enabled, as I often do, I enabled the "Restart after 15 minutes" option as well, which I had never done. The table seemed to work fine with that for a few days, if memory serves, and then I started having these issues. Thinking that might be the culprit, I disabled that option, but the issues Persisted once or twice Per day. So then I also disabled "Pause between tracks", which is how I'm running now. And for the moment, things seem to be ok, although since the issue only seemed to happen at the end of tracks and many of the tracks I run tend to take 4-10 hours to play, my sample size isn't very large yet. But if the issue reappears, I'll report back with logs. If on the other hand the table continues to behave, I may try enabling those pause and restart options again in an attempt to reproduce the issue and write a solid problem report. But in the immediate term, I think I'm going to spend some time just enjoying the table working normally rather than debugging it. Looking forward to an upcoming firmware update that will offer a graceful shutdown and apparently offer more built-in resilience to unexpected outages. On that subject, adding a UPS isn't really in the cards for me. It wouldn't work well in the space where my table is located, and frankly it's just not something I'd consider for a non-critical item in my home as a workaround to an issue that really shouldn't exist anyway. Electronic devices I have that are far more complex manage to have a very high probability of recovering properly after an unexpected outage, so I don't see why that shouldn't be possible for this table. Anyhow, thanks again for the reply. I'll be in touch if I can provide any additional information to help chase this down. | |||||
| Feature request - a "pause" track/setting | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | dbullard | Community Tracks | |
| I'd love to be able to play several tracks in a row, then have the table pause after a particular track, before continuing on. An example usage of this would be to attach the second ball, do a "clean" pattern, draw the desired pattern, then WAit. For tracks ending at the center, I could create a track that stayed at rho=0 while theta did a hundred revs or so, but doesn't work as well if the ball is at rho=1. Also, it's difficult to get an idea of timing. This is my most desired feature currently - bonus points if the WAit Period could be timed (a hour, f ... | |||||

| I added a second option to the custom text generator that I wrote that can output 2 lines of circular text on the table or the previous 3 straight lines of cursive text, plus some punctuation too. Interface is cleaned up too, all you need to run it is to download MS Small Basic v 1.2 and load it from there. (it 's free) I can only attach 2 items Per entry - so look below for the program (.sb file), the data file (abcd.txt) and the instruction txt file Attachment : 2-line-circular.jpg Attachment : 3-line-straight.jpg | |||||

Ever since then, I try to download other tracks and I get the error message "could not make request". I guess I could put my number here and maybe someone with WAy more smarts than me could call and help WAlk me through it? PS. The table has gotten a million compliments and I've had a few friends actually thinking about Ordering one. Thanks for your help again. Michael

| Updates: I got my Life Z extension strip and it popped in very easily. You can only trim the strips between every 6th light, but it just so happens that it fits PerFECTLY in the 36" table by cutting off just the last two sets of 6. I am going to attach some pictures as promised. I think I can only attache one file Per post, so this will be a short collection of posts. First up is a close up of the Life Z cord poking through the slit I made in the velvet. You can see that the velvet lays down very neatly over/around it. Attachment : IMG_3450.JPG | |||||

| ... files is ".thr"). Theta is in radians, and is in normalized length (0 - 1, where 0 is at the center, and 1 is at the farthest travel out). Unitizing the Rho value makes all tracks universal for any size table. All moves are from point to point, but instead of being linear as they would be in a Cartesian machine, they produce spiral arcs in this system. The simplest track file has just two points - an example being the "erase.thr" track: #erase.thr (start a line with # to make it a comment) #one vertex Per line: Theta(real)<space>Rho(real from 0-1) ... | |||||
