| As @dithermaster Relayed, you can use the jog interface to discretely move each axis. But we haven't yet added that to our Api. But our dev is working now on doing just that (allowing you to stream in commands via POST calls). As for getting used to the polar system - it does take some time, but it gets easier the more you play with it. While both Cartesian and polar systems can describe every point on a plane, there are some big differences (the point at the center of the polar system can have different thetas, but still be in the same position (though having different "headings")). And there are what I think of as "symmetries": In the XY world, you can emulate curves using lots of little straight lines. Whereas in the polar world, you can emulate straight lines with lots of little spiral arcs. While there are some gotchas when converting Cartesian plots to polar plots, any path created in one system can be converted to other (with regard to positions along the path). | |||||

The down-side of LIFX Z is that the "quantum" of control is a group (zone) of 6 RGBW LED's, and I'm assuming the circuitry on their strips is proprietary, and takes advantage of being able to use 24V (as opposed to 5V for all other individually addressable LED strips). I'm guessing the 6 LEDs in each zone are wired in series makeing it possible to use a higher voltage, and hence far lower power supply current to produce the same WAttage. | Like every time-based medium (I can think of), the creative space is practically infinite. The reason I like the LIFEX Z is it's a ready-made, off the shelf product. But heck yeah, it would be wonderful to have a cheaper, more capable option that can tie into the Sis Api. Micah just started messing with Fadecandy and Neopixels (RGB+W). It looks like there's a big limit with that avenue - it's not made for strips with more the 64 pixels (and that's for RGB, with white it's 48). You can run 8 strips, so it is possible to orchestrate things around a table - but it's suboptimal. Do you use Neopixels or Dotstars? I'm assuming Neo, since you show an RGBW in your example. Would absolutely love to collaborate with you! What can we do to get help you get started? Bruce | |||||

I've by been playing with LIFX Z strips for more than a week now, and am pretty impressed. At first I WAs a bit skeptical - the whole "colored LED thing" has been around for a while, and it's usually done in a WAy that I find lacks subtlety (to put it mildly). | The "paint" lighting script again. I happened to glance at the coffee table on my WAy back to the kitchen yesterday evening, and the table looked like this: jjr247-paint.png Whenever it crafts one of these, I leave the table at rest for a few days. | I just got my Sisyphus Xyla — thanks so much for a gorgeous table! I'm using Sandify to create my first track. As a guess, I set the following dimensions for the machine: Type: Rectangular Min x (mm): 100 Max x (mm): 1350 Min y (mm): 100 Max y (mm): 650 However, when I export either to THR format or SVG format, when I go to upload the track to , the result seems to assume I'm using the older round table style, even if I select the "XYLA" tag. Here's what it looks like in Sandify, the Sisyphus uploader, and the web interface for my Xyla. It seems to be correctly rectangular and has about the right aspect ratio in Sandify but looks squished after I upload it as if it were forced to the round table style. | Bruce, I bought my table in April of 2022. I DO love it! However, my glass (coffee table) sits on 4 small pea-sized bumps, and the rest of the glass floats (I will try to attach a photo), but I can slip a piece of paper easily under the glass and into the sand area, which is how I would think a spill would flow. Is there an improvement/addition I can buy that sets down a gasket around the whole circumference? (See pic, below) There isn’t much of a gap (maybe 1/16”?), but definitely air space, not even close to a seal of any kind! Attachment : IMG_2613.jpeg | |||||

| My wifi network has a short, easy to type password because I live in the boonies and there is no need to create a long, 8 character password (especially on televisions and other internet-connected appliances that make you "type" with an IR remote). Unfortunately, the Sisyphus app has other ideas about this and won't join my wifi. I'm not going to change my wifi password because it would disconnect all of those devices, and my captive portal network (for guests) has a "ToS checkbox" for them to accept, which confuses the heck out of the box as well, so... | @factures That may work for you, but you are missing out on the new features and improvements. Please contact our support team and let them know your issues, and what version firmware you're running (got to Settings > Advanced > Firmware Version (fifth down on list). Depending on how far back you are, they may send you an SD card to swap in. | |||||

| ... tends toward a flat surface. But (and it's a big one) - particulate matter has non-zero angle of repose. For Sisyphus, the higher the angle the better (more shadowing). That's why glass beads don't work as well as silica. There are also all sorts of properties particulate matter displays that is not common in liquids - like static buildup, and bridging / clogging. | I have a lot of stainless steel furniture in my loft so when the limited edition stainless side table became available I impulse bought it, rolled my eyes at myself, and then sold my black metal side table to a friend. As one does. Every time I WAlked past the new table I found myself thinking, "Wow, the lights are really bright!" If you run a firmware update, it should restore the latest versions of the light code. I would suggest deleting the lights folder from your Content backup.
