| RE: Default track after reset | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| Yes. The key is putting the default track into a playlist. The current behavior of Sisyphi after bootup, is to play the playlist that WAs playing when it WAs last powered. If it WAs not playing a playlist, it plays the Default playlist. So just create a new playlist with your desired default track in it. Note: if you WAnt a single track in a playlist, you must add it twice (playlists must have more than one track). This is sort of a safeguard against playing a single track in repeat mode, which can cause the ball to retrace the exact same path 100's - 1000's ... | |||||
| RE: Ball Bearing Magnetic Properties | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| @stevetheevans - Pretty much any ferromagnetic object you place over the magnet will get pulled through the sand. Spheres are much nicer (IMO) because they roll (as opposed to skidding). As far as Material, all non-stainless alloys ("carbon steels") will work, and you really don't need bearings that are high precision (closer to a perfect sphere) or hardened. And you're partially correct about stainless - many alloys are very weakly attracted to a magnet (300-series) - but 400-series are ferromagnetic and work fine. Home Depot carries a small variety of single ball bearings in their specialty fastener section. | |||||
| Track organization. | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | burningamd | App Usage | |
| I'm quickly finding a real desire for better organization both of the tracks loaded on the table and the community tracks. The ability to sort loaded tracks by name would be nice, and the ability to organize into folders as well (like by type). Though you can approximate folders by making playlists (and just using them to create new playlists from not actually playing). This doesn't work all that well though since they stay in the track list (making it harder to organize others). Also the ability to Order playlists after creation would also be great. Currently it seems the Order is as added and that's it. Additionally, the community tracks, endlessly scrolling isn't great. Categorizing would be nice. Artist/popular is a good start, but maybe some broad categories like drawings (for things like a turtle), "swirls/spirals" (for nearly full table designs like peoni), "geometric" (for designs that don't take full table like circam 2s, sisvort) . Those are terrible names but you get the idea. | |||||

I knew the tracks got scaled for the different sized tables and WAsn't sure if it WAs a detail issue or a sand issue. Bruce - I did notice a return of sand to the middle with certain tracks. It would be great to have your suggested track Order in the FAQs to accomplish it. Andy

| Thanks Bruce for the instructions. It went amazingly well.. I WAs afraid that the removal of the ballpark would damage the cushion Material but it WAs indeed very easy, with the butter knife.. And yes, for those who would like to do the same, HOLD DOWN the fabric and proceed slowly by "cutting" and prying underneath. You mentioned "carpet tape".. For me, looks more like spray glue... Anyway, the process left absolutely no trace, no glue, nothing from the ballpark on the table fabric... Very happy! Thanks again Attachment : No_trace.jpg Attachment ... | |||||
| RE: Light emitting from space under glass | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | heropup | Table Usage | |
| On the 3 foot diameter coffee table, the metal rim that supports the glass is about 1/2 inch in width, so I would not use any of the strips that are wider than that. To be sure, I'd choose something as small as possible. Also, I think the surface mount seals, rather than the flange mount, are the ones you should be looking at. The other consideration is the Material; there seem to be two types: EPDM and silicone. The former is used in the seals found on refrigerators. Silicone, however, is oil-resistant and in my experience, offers even greater durability. However, I don't know if silicone might be too slippery for the glass, since some silicones don't have the "grippy" feel that other synthetic rubbers have (I used to have a silicone phone case, which I hated because it kept slipping out of my hands). I think EPDM should work fine but I can't be sure. Based on these considerations I would look at 93085K21, 93085K93, 93085K52, 93085K35, 9141K168. | |||||

| That new image worked, although not without another speed bump. I WAs able to use WinSCP to copy the tracks and lights files from my backup into the new /content/tracks and /content/lights paths, respectively, but when it came time to overwrite the status.json file, I got an access denied error while logged in as the user "pi". I ended up having to copy it to /content/tracks and then use SSH to sudo move the regular status.json file in Order to rename it, and then sudo move the version from my backup that I had copied into "tracks" to its proper location. ... | |||||

I'll continue with a little bit more off topic as heropup did. I toyed around with sisyphus for the rest of us, and wintopo today. Using some mandala images I WAs able to get a couple of fairly basic tracks created, but nothing as complex as I feel can be accomplished in other WAys. | RE: New bee question | 1 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage
| Ah, that "connections". It refers to the connecting path that is required between the end of one track in a playlist, to the beginning of the next track. A brief "Connections 101": All tracks start and end at either the center (Rho = 0) or the edge (Rho = 1). There are four possibilities: "00", "01", "10", and "11" - meaning a track starts at the center and ends at the center; a track starts at the center and ends at the edge; etc. The app will try to make tracks in a playlist start the next tract without any connecting path. This is easy with 01 tracks and 10 tracks, because they can be reversed if needed. But reversing 00 and 11 tracks doesn't help. So, if it's important to you that your playlists have no connecting paths (which look like a single arc between the edge and the center), then the app will show you if there's any connections, and you can manually change the Order of tracks to get rid of connections. There's more - (e.g. you can set 01 and 10 tracks to be non-reversible), but that's for another lesson :). | |||||

| @patti Well, I had just Ordered these on amazon because it WAs so frustrating trying to find 400 grade ball bears, I thought, "What the heck for $10?" I canceled the Order but it might be too late. Where the heck is a good place to get an assortment of balls that will work? I WAnt to try smaller ones than are offered on the sisyphus-industries.com site. Home Depot doesn't say what grade the balls are. And all the industrial B2B sites deal in quantity. | |||||

| Sisyphus Industries has replied about power banks before but I don't have the links handy (search this forum and the reddit). It's very possible, and they have tried it, but the runtime is not long (on the Order or hours or a day, depending on the size of the power bank). You just need a power bank with a voltage and amperage level that matches the power brick that comes with the mini. | |||||
