| RE: Mini LED add | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Customization | |
| Yes, it should be possible to add a string of single-color LED's (presumably white, but doesn't matter). The key is they need to be rated for 12VDC. The 2-wire connector we use is not the "standard" one that you'll find on strips from Amazon. If you need help connecting the lights to the Sisbot board, drop a request with our support staff, who can guide you through it. As long as you don't short the two wires, you can't cause any harm. | |||||

| Hi @Finn, Sorry for the connectivity troubles (and the loose connector, glad you were able to spot it!). We've had some reports of what you described, and our dev is working on it (connectivity problems our are number one challenge). We have a support meeting tomorrow morning (dev included) and will discuss this. We will get your Mini connected - thanks for your patience. | |||||

| ... this configuration -- so either this is a DIY change made by the prior owner, or it WAs a beta table of one of our employees, from early trials of colored lighting in our shop. We can't provide a quick diagnosis or fix without further info. 2 - from your picture, your coffee table "thinks" it's an end table (smaller field). This should be easy to fix by changing the table's configuration. First, make sure your table is running the latest firmware by doing a firmware update (in settings). | ... I thought this would be a good time to try that RO image you had linked earlier. I confirmed that my table has a 16 GB microSD card, but when I opened up BalenaEtcher, I WAs told that the target WAs too small because it's only 15.6 GB and the image requires 15.9 GB. I'm guessing that's down to GB being defined in decimal vs. binary terms, but since I'm also guessing that the image includes a fair amount of slack to allow for tracks and such to be added, is there some version of this image that can in fact be laid down on a 16 GB microSD card given that t ... | |||||
| RE: Maintenance track wish | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| As several other users have noted, simple physics makes it inevitable that sand will accumulate at Rho 1.0. I take issue with a couple parts of this statement. First is the term "simple," and second, "accumulate". The latter is a minor quibble: it's obvious that if the ball's reach is confined to a perimeter, this will result in what I call the "terminal berm" (others have used "windrow"). This ridge does build up over time, but only to a point, which is self-limited by the angle of repose for the silica we use. But my real disagreement is with using "simple" to describe the physics behind devising strategic plowing strategies using a rolling sphere on / through granular matter. It "seems" like it should be easy to create Sisyphus paths that move sand in a desired direction. Most people (including me) intuit that the erase pattern should move sand out when running from Rho 0 to 1, and in when running from 1 to 0. But this is greatly dependent on the tightness of the spiral (how close successive passes are). My empiric experience suggests simple Archimedes spirals have very little net effect on overall sand distribution. I tried several times over the past 20 years to devise an efficient strategy for "plowing" routines, and never succeeded. I'm not saying it is impossible - I'm pretty sure it is. But it's not easy, at least for me. However, dumb luck + paying attention, led to noting that tracks that repeatedly move in and out while precessing around the field, when run from Rho 1 to 0, are very efficient at plowing in toward the center. Case in point: Create a playlist composed of erase then apache. Play it sequentially with repeat on, overnight. And yes, during our failed struggle to improve 2-ball reliability, I made several attempts at devising a plow-in track that started in >1 territory, hoping to break up and move the terminal berm into <1 territory - with extremely little success. Growing up and living in Minnesota, I (along with all my fellow northerners) am very familiar with plows. My take-home from this exercise: rolling spheres make piss poor plows. 🙂 (ps - would love to be proven wrong) | |||||

| ... as gears skipping. So i started dismantling the table to determine where the problem WAs, and nothing i removed stopped the clicking/stalling. Eventually i had the belt disconnected from the theta motor and it still kept stalling. It makes sense that it WAs the theta motor stalling, as the ball would just move slowly outwards while the theta motor WAs stalled and the rho motor i guess WAs attempting to match the rotation it assumed the theta motor WAs doing to keep rho constant/moving at the correct speed for the pattern. Next i took the motor out and dis ... | |||||
| RE: Ballpark problem | 3 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| We understand your frustrations - which is why we've discontinued two-ball mode as a "standard" feature (it can still be ordered as an add-on). Despite our concerted efforts to make it bullet proof, we haven't been able to make it 100% reliable. It's extremely unforgiving (as you've experienced) - any travel past Rho = 1 is at risk of hitting it. And yes, Community tracks may have out of bounds vertices, but they "should" be caught and clamped to 1 by our software. It's evidently not working all the time (and not every user has updated to the most recent firmware). In answer to your question: The ballpark is affixed using strong double-edged tape (carpet tape). To remove it, carefully work a "blade" (butter knife) in between it and the cushion material it's stuck to. Gently pry the ballpark upward while holding the cushion material down at the rising edge of the ballpark so the cushion separates from it (and isn't pulled up with it). | |||||

| I recently had to reimage my table's SD card to get my coffee table running properly after it had been shut down for several days while WAiting for a replacement LED strip that I installed after the original strip failed. After reimaging the SD card, I followed instructions I had previously received from Sisyphus Support for restoring tracks and playlists. I had previously backed up "/home/pi/sisbot-server/sisbot/content", and to restore them, I SSH'd to the table, ran "sudo killall node", and then used WinSCP (an SFTP client) to delete the existing files ... | |||||

| If possible, can you create a WAy for people that use a browser to access their table as opposed to a smart device to utilize more screen real estate and add in the ability to drag and drop tracks from one playlist to another? It would make creating playlists WAy easier than having to remember names and keep going back and forth between lists to look for new ones. The browser version has plenty of space to do this since you created a portrait Style interface in a landscape layout [something like the attached image where you drag from all tracks to whatever p ... | |||||
