| RE: Option to reverse RGBW color rho? | 27 Relevance | 6 years ago | heropup | App Updates | |
| The direction is reversed because your installation of your custom light Strip is reversed relative to the direction that the board expects (e.g., clockwise if the board is expecting anti-clockwise). If you installed the NeoPixels Strip on the same backing as the original Strip (there is just enough space on the backing to do this), then it needed to be placed in the opposite orientation as the original Strip, because once you flip over the backing so that the NeoPixels Strip is on the top half, that reverses the orientation. In other words, if the original Sisyphus Strip is installed anti-clockwise, then the NeoPixels Strip needs to be installed clockwise on the same backing, then the entire backing is pulled out and flipped over so that the NeoPixels are now on top of the original Strip. If you do not flip over the backing and leave the NeoPixels below the original Strip, the illumination of the sand field will be uneven because the LEDs are mounted too low. | |||||
| RE: Adding colored LEDs | 18 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Table Customization | |
| As the first person (that I am aware of) who added colored LEDs to a table, this is nearly identical to the approach I used to modify my end table. The silicone sealant WAs loose enough for me to partially separate the drawing surface from the rim, and that's how I threaded the LIFX Z connector through. I didn't do any drilling. But with this approach, there WAsn't enough space for both the LIFX Z and the original Sisyphus LED cable to thread through the slot, so I disconnected the Sisyphus LED cable. But it can always be reconnected if desired. Another ... | |||||

| There is a reboot process for the Strip so it can figure out how long it actually is. 🙂 Unplug the Strip power adapter from mains power. While unplugged, add your Strip extensions. After adding Strips, plug the power adapter back into mains power. Press the button on the LIFX Z controller, for 1 second. The Strip will flash, and 'chase' from the connector, down to the end of the Strips. All the Strips will light up, and you can control the whole Strip. | |||||
| RE: Mini LED add | 12 Relevance | 5 years ago | dithermaster | Table Customization | |
| I think so. I haven't seen the mini without LEDs, but as long as the outside WAll is tall enough you can use an LED Strip with adhesive backing, and tuck the wires and control module somewhere. I'd suggest getting one you can set the colors on, because if you get red only you might get bored (unless you really like red!) On my 2' side table I replaced the original white LED Strip with an RGBW addressable one and ran color patterns on it using an Arduino microcontroller. They were not based on ball position like the factory Strip, but they proved out the con ... | |||||

| I did flip it upside-down! I just assumed that since you had put them at the top, that WAs the right place for the to be to get the best contrast. 🙂 I could theoretically run them both, but I ended up leaving the original lights unplugged for three reasons: 1) The lifx z has the ability to do any white that I WAnt, so there WAsn't really a good need for the original Strip, 2) you can see the Strip clearly if you are low (i.e. laying on the couch, so I thought that might be distracting, and 3) I would have had to have made my hole even a tiny bit bigger to g ... | |||||
| RE: Flickering white LEDs | 6 Relevance | 5 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| You can try disconnecting and reconnecting the 3-wire cable to the lights, at the connector near the start of the light Strip, and at the circuit board - but if that doesn't remedy the flickering, the Strip will need replacement. Please contact our support team. | |||||

| I have the cheapest kickstart mini...no led..no glass..etc. I have created a custom housing for it and would like to add an led Strip.. I see some type plug in. Just WAnted to know if I can plug a reg type led Strip and it work without a bunch of added cost/ effort. Thanks | |||||

We can't provide a quick diagnosis or fix without further info. 2 - from your picture, your coffee table "thinks" it's an end table (smaller field). This should be easy to fix by changing the table's configuration. First, make sure your table is running the latest firmware by doing a firmware update (in settings). | ... through, made that slot just big enough to fit the LED cord through (using an exacto knife and a micro hacking method), patted down the velvet, replaced the LED hoop upside-down and plugged it in! It is GORGEOUS!!!! The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes, most of which WAs spent hacking away at the table. I am certain someone with tools and skills could do it faster and better, but the truth is that you cannot see the damage created unless you take the glass top and the ring off of the table. Two notes: 1) I have a 3' table and need to order one extensio ... | |||||

| I recently had to reimage my table's SD card to get my coffee table running properly after it had been shut down for several days while WAiting for a replacement LED Strip that I installed after the original Strip failed. After reimaging the SD card, I followed instructions I had previously received from Sisyphus Support for restoring tracks and playlists. I had previously backed up "/home/pi/sisbot-server/sisbot/content", and to restore them, I SSH'd to the table, ran "sudo killall node", and then used WinSCP (an SFTP client) to delete the existing files ... | |||||

| Contributing new Lighting Modes | 3 Relevance | 6 years ago | Mark Roland | Table Customization | |
| @bruce I have a custom-built sand table that I have developed on for a couple years now and as part of that I have written quite a few Lighting Modes for an Adafruit Dotstar LED Strip. I have a demo video and all of my code is available on Github. I would be happy to contribute these to the community. Is there a WAy to connect the dots between what I have created and the LEDs in the Sisyphus table? | |||||

| ... Since the stock screws are pan head on the top (to clear the magnet arms) and use wing nuts on the bottom, you need to be careful in your spacing to minimize the remaining screw length at the top to provide movement clearance. The longer screws needed for spacing meant I needed to install with the head down. It is very sturdy and can support anything you may WAnt to add since it’s a mid room power source. With the additional space I may add an Echo Spot under the table to aide in mic reception. Btw, the power Strip I added is Alexa controllable, and the ou ... | |||||

| ... This WAs the hard part, because you don't WAnt to nick the cable as you're drilling. While working, it helps to peel the fabric cover away and temporarily hold the corners down using tape. Then I drilled out a hole just large enough to pass the LIFX Z connector. The result WAs fairly clean (but I didn't take photos). It is also superior to the WAy I modified the end table, since the drilling of the hole allows enough space for both connector cables to thread through, so both the original and LIFX Strips are controllable. I thought about reapplying sil ... | |||||
