As the first person (that I am aware of) who added colored LEDs to a table, this is nearly identical to the approach I used to modify my end table. The silicone sealant WAs loose enough for me to partially separate the drawing surface from the rim, and that's how I threaded the LIFX Z connector through. I didn't do any drilling. But with this approach, there WAsn't enough space for both the LIFX Z and the original Sisyphus LED cable to thread through the slot, so I disconnected the Sisyphus LED cable. But it can always be reconnected if desired.

... cycling the table fixes it for a few hours, but a) the problem returns a few hours later, and b) given prior experiences of how the table behaves after power is Cut, I don't really like power cycling it.
This is unfortunately just the latest aggravation of several in the 5 months that I've had my coffee table. First I ended up having to perform multiple factory resets, each of which restored the table to a slightly different state -- and each of which caused me to lose my downloaded tracks and custom playlists. Then I had a firmware update brick my table, ...
Here are some missing steps in my build.
Top photo is riveting the sides on the base after I carefully Cut out the places for the garages.
Middle is after I bonded extra 3/16" acrylic to the LED Cutouts. I Cut apart each LED and soldered them back together with a ~1/4" gap.
Bottom is the nearly completed sand bed. I have since finished up the garages.

How do you laser Cut the sand bed base when it is larger than your laser bed?
Measure twice, Cut twice.
Tomorrow is the day when I get detailed and start putting together the final product. I may have a lit sand bed with hand powered magnets in my office by the end of the week.

@rick-yeh This is definitely not normal function -- I will alert our support team, but also, please start a ticket so we can keep track of it:
follow up: Support is already working with you (they suspect the dust is from the cardboard WAffle-board padding which we Cut to size in our shop) and have relayed instructions for removing it and inspecting the low-friction pad on the magnet for signs of wear or foreign material. Rest assured - we will make sure the problem is fixed!
@Patti - I get it - I don't WAnt things I like to change either, particularly with the Sisyphi in my home. Let me talk with the shop guys. If the stainless ring is the same size (almost certain it is), we can ship you out a black ring for you to go back to. You could also try stacking them, but pretty sure it will be too high for the glass to sit properly. We also might be able to laser Cut something thin and opaque. Will get back to you...
Our table is on a rug, and I Cut a hole in the rug and run the wire under it. I know it's frowned upon, but it WAs safer than having the wire out in the open.
... This WAs the hard part, because you don't WAnt to nick the cable as you're drilling. While working, it helps to peel the fabric cover away and temporarily hold the corners down using tape. Then I drilled out a hole just large enough to pass the LIFX Z connector. The result WAs fairly clean (but I didn't take photos). It is also superior to the WAy I modified the end table, since the drilling of the hole allows enough space for both connector cables to thread through, so both the original and LIFX strips are controllable. ... them to the inner surface of the metal skirt, near the bottom edge, using the arms holding the sisbot as a guide for even spacing. This makes a cover that is WAshable and breathable, as well as nondestructive to the table. I can't promise that a cat won't try to snag its claws on it, though.
A bottom cover would be a great option.. cat likes to stalk the arm underneath.. worried one day a well placed swat of the paw will either damage the mechanics.. or pin an arm..
in the mean time.. going to Cut one our from the cardboard of the box.. using the trim ring as a template..
Overall, the app is pretty solid (I'm using Android), but there a few minor tweaks that would be nice improvements.
1) The ability to set the pause interval between tracks on the playlist. I really like having it pause so I can admire the finished design, but I don't like having to open the app to hit Play for the next track every time. I'd prefer to set the pause interval to a couple of hours, which is enough time for me to catch most of the finished designs without having to pull out the app several times a day to get it started again.
2) Lower priority, but would be nice: the ability to set time windows for lights vs. no-lights (similar to Night Mode). Bright sunlight during the day makes the lights kinda irrelevant, and I'd prefer them to be off (do they burn out after a certain number of hours?), but I do like it brightly lit at night.
3) Testing/bug fix: on a Pixel 3 with Display-Font Size setting set to Largest (us older folks don't have the best reading vision, lol), some screens Cut off the bottom, especially key buttons during the set-up process, and the screen wouldn't scroll up. Giving every screen the ability to scroll up would solve the problem.

A carriage approaches!
Mechanical build is coming along nicely. I have a laser Cut turntable with 480 teeth, slide mechanism is bonded precisely using alignment holes. I have the optical limit for theta using a short piece of black zip tie. Now the hard part:
I have to get this precision machine to mate to the table that is anything but precise. The band isn't round, or even oval. It is kind of egg shaped? The legs aren't at 90°, and there are only 4 screws holding down the top, but 5 holes.
Time to abandon the futuristic machinery in favor of old fashioned paper templates.

My daughter figured out a WAy to make my table much quieter. She first noticed that the sisbot (if that's the right term) made no noise at all when disconnected from the table. However, she could feel it vibrating. So she figured the problem WAs the transference of that vibration to the table. The table itself then acts like a drum and amplifies the sound.
