This has been discussed before. I run a playlist e10 followed by apache1 and repeat. Run it overnight and more sand will be in the centre. Sand that has gone beyond the boundary will not return but it does keep the distribution at the centre more balanced. If you enjoy Heavy sand tracks then an occasional lift of the glass with a clean is good. If you have a large table then it is a two person job using glass handle suction cups.

Heh! I grew up 2 blocks from Clancy's Drug Store at 50th & France, and I agree about the spherical snowplow idea. I don't doubt that you've considered this issue for years, nor that it's a difficult puzzle. Whether we think of physics as simple or not, though, a berm does accrete. (I went with accumulate the first time, so this time I'll try accrete...) I mean, I'm looking at it right now, and this is after only five days of use since the last time I crossed my fingers and hoisted the glass so I could mitigate it. It's not an existential problem, but it does lead to some thin spots at the perimeter, and if you're borderline OCD like me, it's an unscratched itch. I had in mind a track that emulates the zigzag motion of apache or peon1, but which begins at rho=1.N. I could probably write that track, but I would fumble the part where it avoids the ballpark. Don't you even have an experimental script lying around that you could share? It needn't be a thing of beauty, just a hack to eliminate wrasslin with the Heavy glass. (On the smaller table, obviously, it's not an issue.) I'm a tireless promoter of your product. Anyone who asks gets a ten-minute spiel on its elegance and beauty. I bought it when I decided to build a DIY automated sand table, and after calculating what I would need to buy, and the hours I would have to invest, it turned out that I could purchase a Sisyphus coffee table for less it would cost to make my own, and into the bargain, yours comes with a body of tracks and a community of trackmongers. I adore the thing. I would never tell anyone "Don't buy it, sand builds up at rho>1!" I just wish I didn't have to lift the glass and remove the ring to return the sand to rho<1.

Do grandkids count? 🙂 I have pics of both my grandkids on and under the table on our Instagram grid. The glass is tempered, and virtually indestructible. The tables are too Heavy for young kids to topple. And they run on low-voltage, so are not an electrocution risk.

@bruce, are you referring to losing steps?Is this specific to the motor which does the linear movement? I just had another track go bad, it WAs Heavy on movements reversing the linear motor (dougo-spiral2rev). The whole track is Filled with linear reversals but it has a problem with one specific portion of the track. If played from the inside it doesn't have a problem and gets to the outside with the ball in bounds, but then it starts moving back in and the ball quickly goes out of bounds. Hi Matt! I'm also trying to create tracks for the XYLA metal table on the Sandify platform and am running into an issue where the design doesn't WAnt to go from edge to edge of the table. I put in your dimensions of 914x406 but it still doesn't seem to work. As you can see, I'm just trying out a simple pattern to get it to Fill in the entire table. Thanks, Matt! I re-uploaded the SVG and made sure to set the XYLA tag, but the resulting file seems to crop only the top half of the design (see attached screenshot). Version 1.12.25 is out, with updates to the apps (1.12.36) as well. I'm particularly happy with the new LED pattern. Ripples is a bit like WAtching a pond where your ball is a pond-skater. When the ball changes directions or hits the edge, it makes a WAve across the sand field. Smoother tracks have a smoother surface, busy tracks make for WAvy pond. Hi all I recently got a table, and have it playing the default playlist. I WAnt to log into the app to download new ones. I tried using my credentials from the website, and they don't work - clicking "sign in" gives a red "ERROR" text, with nothing else. I try creating a new account. I Fill in the information, and it says "Could not make request." Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

The app updates have been terrific, especially being able to download tracks from the app. Now everyone can easily do it. I also love listing the drawing time. If there is company coming over, I will choose a design whose write speed matches the socializing time. I don't WAnt visitors fascinated with the table but the track taking longer than their visit to complete. Now I can plan one or more tracks to Fill that time. Curved gives me two text boxes to Fill, whereas Spiral only gives me one, but in all cases, I get that error regardless of whether I enter a single character or enough characters to raise the line length value to near maximum. I'm WAiting to make sure the "echo" area lower in the interface updates based on what I typed before clicking "Draw preview first", but I can't avoid that error. What am I doing wrong?
