I'm trying to figure out how auto-brightness works. First, is it based on an ambient light sensor, time of day, what? And second, I notice that it doesn't disable the brightness slider. It seems to work in conjunction with it, but I can't figure out the exact Design intent. If I move the slider to the very low end, then enabling auto-brightness raises brightness a bit. If I move the slider to the very high end, then enabling auto-brightness dims the lighting it a bit. But for the majority of the slider positions in the middle, auto-brightness seems to have no effect at all.
I will say @akraut , @mazdog , @bruce slowing down the speeds have helped. Id leave it at full speed, pass out on the couch and WAke up to it the main ball in the ball catch. Ive been running at about 1/2 - 3/4 speed. passing out and WAking up to a new Design with no problems :)… knock on wood
I too love Paint mode. I find myself using mostly White (highlights detail), Paint (great for high "delta Theta" tracks), and Rho Fade (great for high "delta Rho" tracks).
Dithermaster I don't WAnt to spoil any mystery that you might WAnt to keep in your life, so you might WAnt to skip the rest of this post, but for anyone else who's curious, Paint involves a "brush color" that varies over time. As the ball moves around, it paints table regions with the currently active "brush color", and any region of the table that WAs painted a given color stays that c ...
I can't answer the question about backups, but I can provide some background on the Dropbox tracks. Before the Community tab in the Sisyphus app WAs functioning, some of the earlier recipients of the table (mainly through the Kickstarter campaign) had learned about the track file structure and developed some of their own tracks. The browser version of the app allowed uploading of track files from the computer directly to the table. So in order to share tracks, some of us uploaded them through various methods (e.g., Dropbox, GitHub, etc.) to make them avai ...
... so that they can be accessed via dropdown instead of having to maintain a file listing the hex codes of the colors you like so that you can retrieve them after experimenting with something else. I'm picturing an expansion where the color picker section of the app with the color wheel and sliders simply has a Save button that would allow you to save the current hex code with a custom name, and then there would be a dropdown with all of those custom names available, where selecting it would jump to that hex code -- but not click Save just in case the user WA ...
Overall, the app is pretty solid (I'm using Android), but there a few minor tweaks that would be nice improvements.
1) The ability to set the pause interval between tracks on the playlist. I really like having it pause so I can admire the finished Design, but I don't like having to open the app to hit Play for the next track every time. I'd prefer to set the pause interval to a couple of hours, which is enough time for me to catch most of the finished Designs without having to pull out the app several times a day to get it started again.
2) Lower priority, but would be nice: the ability to set time windows for lights vs. no-lights (similar to Night Mode). Bright sunlight during the day makes the lights kinda irrelevant, and I'd prefer them to be off (do they burn out after a certain number of hours?), but I do like it brightly lit at night.
3) Testing/bug fix: on a Pixel 3 with Display-Font Size setting set to Largest (us older folks don't have the best reading vision, lol), some screens cut off the bottom, especially key buttons during the set-up process, and the screen wouldn't scroll up. Giving every screen the ability to scroll up would solve the problem.
Thanks for considering. Love the table!
hi all,
im curious how to make my own Design. Specifically the philadelphia eagles symbol. Ive never used any cad programs before. Wondering if there is an easier WAy.
Thanks!
I just got a new table last week that should have had the two ball mode.
how do I enable the two ball to use both balls at one or choose a Design that utilizes two balls?
thanks

Need a bottom cover for sure!!! ASAP
Cat can be unpredictable and they do chew on thin wire (like pet grass) or scratch electronic boards, the moving parts underneath (like some cat toy)
Don’t WAit until it’s too late..... who’s responsible If any pet accidents or product damages for the electronic parts exposed Design?
I have to closely WAtch my cat ever since it started moving (underneath has moving arm).
Note: I follow my cat that’s how I discovered the bottom were exposed without cover!?!
Just WAnted to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to Design new tracks and share them with the rest of the Sisyphus community. I've been trying them out, and each one is a real treat. Keep 'em coming!
Yes. The key is putting the default track into a playlist. The current behavior of Sisyphi after bootup, is to play the playlist that WAs playing when it WAs last powered. If it WAs not playing a playlist, it plays the Default playlist. So just create a new playlist with your desired default track in it. Note: if you WAnt a single track in a playlist, you must add it twice (playlists must have more than one track). This is sort of a safeguard against playing a single track in repeat mode, which can cause the ball to retrace the exact same path 100's - 1000's ...
I found a drawing of the Eagles logo, loaded it into Adobe Illustrator, did an autotrace and then saved as .svg file for the table. It could have been refined more. I had no luck using with the "Sisyphus for the rest of us" utility.
I know my solution is many extra steps. I'm sorry that once I loaded the Design to my table, deleted the original .svg file, and there doesn't seem to be a WAy to download or I'd post it for you

I guess, like most people, I pay most attention to the things that most interest me - in this case, Rho position control is paramount, while Theta is "all relative," As for Sisyphus Designs starting at "12 o'clock" - it never occurred to me to see it that WAy. Designs simply start "where they are" :). The first Design after homing starts at Theta = 0 (regardless of the first Theta coordinate value in the *.thr file). What actual direction that is in relation to the physical world didn't concern me (since I create algorithmic tracks). If, however, I WAs using ...
I am building my own accent table for my office at work. I am going to add a mechanism inspired by Sisyphus Design, but completely from scratch, with my own software and control. I can post updates if Bruce is OK with it.
Question:
In order to use community (I also WAnt to publish) tracks, I need one bit of information that has conflicting posts. What direction would this .thr file be drawn?

Positive theta. Is it CCW or CW?
There are many posts that explain that theta "home" is at the "top" of a freshly homed start. There are also pos ...
I just received a new 36" Sisyphus table as a gift. I have connected to it via my phone App. I tried running a Design on it. I got a message on my phone saying "HOMING YOUR TABLE This should only take a moment." That WAs about 30 minutes ago and I am still seeing this message.
The ball has gone around maybe 60 degrees in a single portion of a circle, and the lights are on. Periodically the ball moves a bit and/or the table beeps. Apart from this nothing is happening.
How long is this expected to go on? Is this normal behavior or is this an i ...
... Anyway, some photos are attached comparing the detail. This sand had the following problems:
1. You need to remove or gently crush some globs that form in the bag (I didn’t, which is why my track looks chunky).
2. The sand contains microscopic bits of iron (probably from the manufacturing process) that cling to the magnetic ball and eventually need to be removed.
3. It is so fine that mistakes and ball-tracks in the Design show, that aren’t supposed to show.
4. It is so fine it looks fake, like moon dust or the playa dust of Burning Man. Designs are cri ...
@stevetheevans - not 100% sure that Home Depot's single bearings are not stainless, but I doubt they'd carry stainless (it's more expensive and less hard than carbon steels). But you can be absolutely sure if you just bring a small magnet with you next time you're shopping. BTW - you do not need 400-series stainless. Regular shiny (polished) steel balls stay that WAy over long periods of time when running on Sisyphus. I assume the sand does the "cleaning."
Yes, 100% agree with this.
I think I used to have the ability to move tracks around in my playlists as well as had to copy/paste 'erase' every time I added a new track so it would start with a clean slate. Now I can't seem to do that anymore so an auto erase between tracks would be the best choice.
Any update on this?
thx
