... complex problem (how do you make a single, continuous path through a large number of unordered path segments that touch each other). The only WAy to have absolute control of vertex Order is to create the track by "hand" (draw it using vector software), or to use an algorithmic approach to making the points that creates them in a specific Order.
In fact, since the ball Park appears to be a 2-car garage, you could potentially have 3 balls available, with 1 or 2 active at a time (I guess that's 9 combinations? A, B, C, A+B, B+A, A+C, C+A, B+C, and C+B). In addition to ball size, ball color could be cool (I'd love to see dark gray or black myself). To get truly crazy one could add a few more ball Parks at the other 3 cardinal directions and have up to 8 Parked balls.
I put few "Attach" and "Detach" in my Default Playlist which is shuffled, so sometimes the table is single ball and sometimes it's dual ball. But some tracks don't look great in single ball, so it will be nice when this is better than just random chance (and instead based on the track flag).
That "shouldn't" happen (tracks are automatically scaled to the radius of the sand-field) - but - Murphy (as in his Law), is always at play. We're still working on making 2-ball mode more robust. Anything that causes either ball to become unattached from its magnet, may lead to two balls on one magnet. The two causes of ball-cleaving are crossing a sand mound that's too deep, and a ball hitting the ball Park (not during attach / detach track). The latter means Sisyphus is out of position. Position errors can add up when running at higher speeds. Like I said - we're working on it. Now that many more Sisyphi are 2-ball enabled, we will have far more feedback to help us figure it out.
... second magnet will pick up the tail ball in the "ball-park" and bring it out into play. Every track after that will run in 2-ball mode. To go back to 1-ball, just run "detach" as a single, or put it in your playlist to automate it. Usually, if you create playlists that have detach and attach in them, you will WAnt to run the sequentially (not shuffled). All tracks "run" in 1- or 2-ball mode. But usually, stuff that is recognizable (drawings of things, text, logos, etc) doesn't look good turned inside out :). Algorithmic stuff, on the other hand, can look g ...
Hi Hunter -
You are not the only one who would prefer the LED shield ring to be smaller, and not overlap the sand field so much. The design process in making this choice WAs a compromise between showing as much of the sand as possible vs. minimizing the potential for direct line of sight to the LED's (which can be very distracting from across a room). This is very angle dependent - not a factor when looking straight down on the table, but is while seated 3+ meters away - especially with the end table version, since it's LEDs are significantly higher than t ...
Thanks @dithermaster for doing such a great job answering @lilia 's query. We have a very good track record with our "Ssbot" mechanism being reliable and quiet - but on rare occasions we've had reports of different types of sound. The "pinion lubrication" tutorial WAs made to fix one of those if it arises. For the majority of users, no routine maintenance has been needed. As for running a full size table using a 12V battery, we have done some trials using Lithium packs sold on Amazon. The majority of the power consumed is by the LED lighting. My personal fee ...
1.12.04 update is out. With it, on the homepage, you can click on "Connections" in the Next Up heading to view the track flow and information on their start/end (rho) values.
The table will do its best to play smoothly, but depending on the Order and track values, it is not always possible. The queue will let you rearrange the track Order yourself if you WAnt to fix the upcoming Order manually.
Hi I WAnt to Order a table and WAs wondering if you would send me a referee a friend invite so I can get 10% off my Order and you get 10% of the value in Sisyphus Credit to use at their store. my email is [email protected] Thank You
I've been holding off Order a full size table for a while as I saw there were various enhancements planned. With the launch of the mini's can you confirm if all full size tables will now include these enhancements? Also if I WAnted to Order both a full size table and a mini are there any options for combined shipping (I'm in the UK so thats quite a factor 🙂
The new mini's look brilliant btw!
Thanks
Mark
... a big battery or charge it frequently if you converted it to use a battery. If you do think about adding a battery, a good source might be the ones for motorized recliners. We added one of those to a recliner that we didn't WAnt a cord running to, and it only needs to be charged once every few weeks. But it's as big as a kid's shoe. There is room under the Sisyphus, so it might be possible. The transformer puts out 12VDC (at 4A). Also note that the upcoming Sisyphus Mini will have a rechargeable battery option.

... orient my table accordingly in my living room. But I just played that same track again a few days later, and that track is now playing rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the WAy it played originally. I'm not sure if this matters, but between the two runs of this track, I installed firmware update 1.10.70. If that doesn't account for it, does it make a difference whether a track is played as a single track or played in a playlist immediately after a previous track, i.e. does the table only "zero/reset" the theta value it has accumulated from playing the pr ...
I have found that if I put the table to sleep while the table is paused, WAking the table on its own does not cause the lights to come back on. The ball must move first in Order for that to happen. Unfortunately, this means that if I have "Pause after each track" enabled and put the table to sleep at the end of a track, I can't WAke it up with lighting to see the completed track without moving the ball first. For tracks that end at Rho 0, this will cause the ball to no longer be centered and to partially draw over whatever is currently displayed. It woul ...
I'm quickly finding a real desire for better organization both of the tracks loaded on the table and the community tracks.
The ability to sort loaded tracks by name would be nice, and the ability to organize into folders as well (like by type). Though you can approximate folders by making playlists (and just using them to create new playlists from not actually playing). This doesn't work all that well though since they stay in the track list (making it harder to organize others). Also the ability to Order playlists after creation would also be great. Currently it seems the Order is as added and that's it.
Additionally, the community tracks, endlessly scrolling isn't great. Categorizing would be nice. Artist/popular is a good start, but maybe some broad categories like drawings (for things like a turtle), "swirls/spirals" (for nearly full table designs like peoni), "geometric" (for designs that don't take full table like circam 2s, sisvort) . Those are terrible names but you get the idea.
... is a net increase of sand in the center.
Thank you both. I must have forgotten to subscribe and am only just now seeing these replies. I knew the tracks got scaled for the different sized tables and WAsn't sure if it WAs a detail issue or a sand issue.
Bruce - I did notice a return of sand to the middle with certain tracks. It would be great to have your suggested track Order in the FAQs to accomplish it.

the custom Order screen just shows the overall diameter but what are the actual working sizes for the sisyphus inside the ring ? is the mini same as the metal side table ? i wonder if we can just buy the sispyhus without the actual furniture portion of it.
i already have a coffee table (glass) with a top glass and a bottom glass surface so i WAnted the largest possible size i can stick inside it without a base.
The engraved rings are for Minis and metal tables - you can Order a ring for your coffee table on our site here.
