| All your base are belong to us. How do you Laser cut the sand bed base when it is larger than your Laser bed? Measure twice, cut twice. Tomorrow is the day when I get detailed and start putting together the final product. I may have a lit sand bed with hand powered magnets in my office by the end of the week. | RE: Brightness-- stainless vs black ring | 8 Relevance | 4 years ago | Bruce | Table Usage | |
| @Patti - I get it - I don't WAnt things I like to change either, particularly with the Sisyphi in my home. Let me talk with the shop guys. If the stainless ring is the same size (almost certain it is), we can ship you out a black ring for you to go back to. You could also try stacking them, but pretty sure it will be too high for the glass to sit properly. We also might be able to Laser cut something thin and opaque. Will get back to you... | |||||

| A carriage approaches! Mechanical build is coming along nicely. I have a Laser cut turntable with 480 teeth, slide mechanism is bonded precisely using alignment holes. I have the optical limit for theta using a short piece of black zip tie. Now the hard part: I have to get this precision machine to mate to the table that is anything but precise. The band isn't round, or even oval. It is kind of egg shaped? The legs aren't at 90°, and there are only 4 screws holding down the top, but 5 holes. Time to abandon the futuristic machinery in favor of old fashioned paper templates. Attachment : Undercarriage.jpg | |||||

| ... My power supply and step down converter are able to power the accessories noted above, along with the Raspberry Pi, and motor hat without breaking a sweat. Now, on to the prototyping stage! In order to make real progress, I had to make the hard decisions about the physical limits of my table: The Rho is going to be from 0 to 1 with no overrun. I don't need to WAtch out for the ball parks, because they won't be in the drawing area. The radius for the drawing area is 171mm. This fits tightly inside the legs of the table I bought. There is a bit of extra r ... | |||||

| I am sure that the table will be awesome to WAtch, and I'll enjoy making new tracks for myself and the community, but my main purpose currently is the physical build and optimization. I am also looking forward to the programming aspect of this project. Some of the WAys that the physical interaction between Theta and Rho affect each other are going to be fun to dive into. It is pretty mind bending thinking about the differences between this machine and my printer and Laser cutter. I have a bunch of parts modeled in CAD, and I am starting the buildup of the R ... | |||||

| I wholeheartedly appreciate the file name for that video. Totally heard the echoing G hahahha. Thanks so much! I may revisit this when I finally get the table done! It's getting close, may start Cutting wood this week! | |||||

| I would have never thought of this, excellent idea! I call mine a bench scraper, and used it for unsticking my gingerbread cutout cookies from my pastry board a couple days ago. I have also used it for collecting and maneuvering things like diced onions or chopped herbs from the Cutting board into the recipe. | |||||

| I hear you. We are working on making the app better. The focus is going to be not on brute force (cutting power and turning back on). Everything is connected and has an API (way to "talk" to the world). Sisyphus. Alexa. Homekit (Siri).... It's coming. Just can't pinpoint how long it will take us. But not long is my prediction. | |||||

| Thanks Bruce for the instructions. It went amazingly well.. I WAs afraid that the removal of the ballpark would damage the cushion material but it WAs indeed very easy, with the butter knife.. And yes, for those who would like to do the same, HOLD DOWN the fabric and proceed slowly by "cutting" and prying underneath. You mentioned "carpet tape".. For me, looks more like spray glue... Anyway, the process left absolutely no trace, no glue, nothing from the ballpark on the table fabric... Very happy! Thanks again Attachment : No_trace.jpg Attachment ... | |||||
| RE: Adding colored LEDs | 7 Relevance | 8 years ago | heropup | Table Customization | |
| As the first person (that I am aware of) who added colored LEDs to a table, this is nearly identical to the approach I used to modify my end table. The silicone sealant WAs loose enough for me to partially separate the drawing surface from the rim, and that's how I threaded the LIFX Z connector through. I didn't do any drilling. But with this approach, there WAsn't enough space for both the LIFX Z and the original Sisyphus LED cable to thread through the slot, so I disconnected the Sisyphus LED cable. But it can always be reconnected if desired. Another ... | |||||

| Updates: I got my Life Z extension strip and it popped in very easily. You can only trim the strips between every 6th light, but it just so happens that it fits PERFECTLY in the 36" table by Cutting off just the last two sets of 6. I am going to attach some pictures as promised. I think I can only attache one file per post, so this will be a short collection of posts. First up is a close up of the Life Z cord poking through the slit I made in the velvet. You can see that the velvet lays down very neatly over/around it. Attachment : IMG_3450.JPG | |||||
