1.12.04 update is out. With it, on the homepage, you can click on "Connections" in the Next Up heading to view the track flow and information on their start/end (rho) values.
The table will do its best to play smoothly, but depending on the Order and track values, it is not always possible. The queue will let you rearrange the track Order yourself if you WAnt to fix the upcoming Order manually.
... files is ".thr"). Theta is in radians, and is in normalized length (0 - 1, where 0 is at the center, and 1 is at the farthest travel out). Unitizing the Rho value makes all tracks universal for any size table. All moves are from point to point, but instead of being linear as they would be in a Cartesian machine, they produce spiral arcs in this system. The simplest track file has just two points - an example being the "erase.thr" track:
#erase.thr (start a line with # to make it a comment)
#one vertex per line: Theta(real)<space>Rho(real from 0-1)

Hi Steve,
All I can say with regard to your idea is: "Aye, aye Captain!" We planned to create a repository of tracks for people to download and put out software to make it easier to compose new tracks, from the very start of this project. But reality imposed some priorities (like figuring out how to make and ship our tables :). We've had to delay setting this up ourselves due to lack of time and resources - but the goal has never changed. Help from the community is absolutely needed and welcome! A good place to start, if you're not already familiar with it, is with the stuff on our subreddit - links on our support pages:

... so that we can take this beautiful piece to a whole new level. Possibly, set it up to share our ideas with Bruce and the Sisyphus team.
They have done an amazing job of creating this magnificent piece of art, now let’s try to give back to them by helping and suggesting WAys to make the designs we all probably WAnt to experiment and play with.
My head is full of ideas already.

... orient my table accordingly in my living room. But I just played that same track again a few days later, and that track is now playing rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the WAy it played originally. I'm not sure if this matters, but between the two runs of this track, I installed firmware update 1.10.70. If that doesn't account for it, does it make a difference whether a track is played as a single track or played in a playlist immediately after a previous track, i.e. does the table only "zero/reset" the theta value it has accumulated from playing the pr ...
@stevetheevans - not 100% sure that Home Depot's single bearings are not Stainless, but I doubt they'd carry Stainless (it's more expensive and less hard than carbon steels). But you can be absolutely sure if you just bring a small magnet with you next time you're shopping. BTW - you do not need 400-series Stainless. Regular shiny (polished) steel balls stay that WAy over long periods of time when running on Sisyphus. I assume the sand does the "cleaning."
the Custom Order screen just shows the overall diameter but what are the actual working sizes for the sisyphus inside the ring ? is the mini same as the metal side table ? i wonder if we can just buy the sispyhus without the actual furniture portion of it.
i already have a coffee table (glass) with a top glass and a bottom glass surface so i WAnted the largest possible size i can stick inside it without a base.
... at startup, and then....nothing. No lights, no motion, no connectivity through the app. I've seen this multiple times in the past even after performing a proper shutdown. So I did what I always did: hard power cycled it by just unplugging it. This time it came up, but when I opened the app, I saw a notice I'd never seen before, saying the table had been improperly shut down, that a file error had been fixed, and that the table may have been reset to factory defaults as part of that fix -- which I discovered it had been. SERIOUSLY!? "Hey, your table wo ...
... so that they can be accessed via dropdown instead of having to maintain a file listing the hex codes of the colors you like so that you can retrieve them after experimenting with something else. I'm picturing an expansion where the color picker section of the app with the color wheel and sliders simply has a Save button that would allow you to save the current hex code with a Custom name, and then there would be a dropdown with all of those Custom names available, where selecting it would jump to that hex code -- but not click Save just in case the user WA ...
... really happy with the WAy the lights work from below. Obviously, the video doesn't do it justice, and it would definitely look a lot better if I WAs drawing with a computer instead of by hand.
Any tips on the kind of sand in use on your tables would be appreciated. Mine isn't white, but it seems fairly fine. Maybe finer wouldn't be so loud.

Hi I WAnt to Order a table and WAs wondering if you would send me a referee a friend invite so I can get 10% off my Order and you get 10% of the value in Sisyphus Credit to use at their store. my email is [email protected] Thank You
I've been holding off Order a full size table for a while as I saw there were various enhancements planned. With the launch of the mini's can you confirm if all full size tables will now include these enhancements? Also if I WAnted to Order both a full size table and a mini are there any options for combined shipping (I'm in the UK so thats quite a factor 🙂
The new mini's look brilliant btw!
Thanks
Mark
@stevetheevans - Pretty much any ferromagnetic object you place over the magnet will get pulled through the sand. Spheres are much nicer (IMO) because they roll (as opposed to skidding). As far as material, all non-stainless alloys ("carbon steels") will work, and you really don't need bearings that are high precision (closer to a perfect sphere) or hardened. And you're partially correct about Stainless - many alloys are very weakly attracted to a magnet (300-series) - but 400-series are ferromagnetic and work fine. Home Depot carries a small variety of single ball bearings in their specialty fastener section.
I have a new mini with which I WAnt to experiment with different ball sizes. I'm not sure which ball bearing material I need to use. Stainless steel is generally not highly attracted to magnets, but this is what most of the ball bearing variety kits are made of. What material (or Stainless steel grade) are the balls that come with the Sisyphus made of, and what other materials/grades will also work?
... on a Custom built Sisyphus mechanism and control software that I will be adding to this table I found on Amazon.
While I have built furniture in the past, what I am really after is the mechanical and electronic portions of this project. I have Ordered most of the parts I will need with a bonus from work, so my project will call my office home, and distract guests along with the other "toys" that I have on hand. Some parts have arrived today, so the journey begins!
Here are a few of my goals that differ from standard tables:

David,
The path taken by the ball between points is a linear interpolation in polar coordinates. Which generally means an arc of some kind. So if your intention is a straight line, you'll need to use many points. In my path generation code, I subdivide lines until they are "small enough" (a balance between noticeable and large file sizes).
The "default" paths ("factory" paths) were all created by artist Bruce Shapiro over the many years he has been making Custom Sisyphus tables. The "community" tracks have been made by many folks (including me). Welcome to the group; I look forward to seeing what you make!
All of the outside contributions are using Custom code. Some folks have put their code online (e.g., Some just share the results.
