Hello Everyone,

I wanted to see if I could make permanent art using the table. So I decided to replace the sand with mortar. After the design was made I spayed with a mist of water and let it cure. Then filled with sand and flipped over. Next poured mixed mortar on top to make a disk for it so it could be handled. Now I have a stepping stone. Haha.

Enjoy!

Gareth

That's fantastic, Gareth! I love it when people explore new ways to use Sisyphus. Over the years, I've also wanted to "preserve" the sand field, and thought about trying plaster or running a track submerged in resin. I tried it under water first, and found out that the angle of repose for sand is considerably less than air - so gave up. But we did find a "clean" way to do it: glass frit.
