Hi, smarthome enthusiast here. I am still loving my Sisyphus coffee table and have been enjoying tinkering with ways to remotely control it. I prefer physical buttons over a touchscreen or smartphone app. I currently have Flic buttons working well for basic commands (play / pause / sleep / wake / dim / bright.)

I was wondering if I could set up something similar for the excellent LaMetric Time display? It has buttons on top for control, and the display could also show the name of the Sisyphus track currently being drawn. Is this something IFTTT could help with?

Incidentally, LaMetric was my *second* favorite crowdfunding campaign a few years back. πŸ˜‰

I'm interested in any other means to control the Sisyphus table, beyond its app or webpage. I'm dreaming of a day I can one day handle it via voice commands to Alexa, Siri, OK Google, Cortana, Samantha or whoever.

You are not alone! After a few people wrote about their success connecting a Flic button, I tried it, and though it was cool to be abe to get it to work, I could see its limitations. Voice command is definitely the way to go IMO. We are definitely planning to devote significant developer time on this, and IFTTT is likely the place we'll start. Our hope is to get our API to a level documentation where the community can start experimenting soon.

"Alexa - play dither_yinyang" - definitely! πŸ™‚

Actually, using the LIFX Z string, since it is Homekit compat, I can tell Siri to change the lighting up/dn and change colors - and it works (which I still find amazing).

Simply being able to tell Alexa to pause/play, sleep/wake, or turn the light on/off on my Sisyphus would be fantastic. Β I'm excited to see this progress.

Thanks for the reply.

No. But this is a good time to poke us. We are about to make a major push on several fronts. Thanks for reminding me - it's on the list!

Any update on supporting Google Assistant? The last years I used IFTTT to call a webhook (IFTTT connected to Google Assistant/Google Home for voice commands) that I host on a server myself which sends the same request to the sisyphus as the app (just looked at the traffic in my network). This worked for the last years so I can include the Sisyphus wake up and sleep in my Google routine etc.Β

Google "throwing" out IFTTT or at least changing this made this solution to stop working since last month.

In theory Google Assistant support should be something Sisyphus Industries would want right? Also it should not be to complex to have things like: Sisyphus wake up, Sisyphus sleep, Sisyphus next track, Sisyphus erase, Sisyphus etc etc.

Today I decide to give it another go (annoyed Google home/assistant integration stopped working).Β

Β

I solved it via my Samsung Smartthings hub. I've created a smart app in Smartthings that takes the input of a switch to determine if the Sisyphus need to be on or off (sleep or not). I access the table based on that switch and created a virtual switch in Smartthings that I name Sisyphus. The smart app accesses the Sisyphus table and mimics what the app sends to the table (monitor your network traffic πŸ˜‰ ). Due to Smartthings being integrated to Google home/ assistant I now have a device called Sisyphus that I can also use in routines of both Smartthings and Google Home/Assistant + voice etc. Works like a charm, out the door with IFTTT.
