| Recently received my 3' table, setup WAs easy, its been running great. I went through a variety of tracks in the beginning to see what it can do, and noticed that it WAs only using One ball. I figured it must be select tracks that use two. I ended up playing the default playlist, and at some point it began using two balls, which then appeared to continue doing so on tracks that previously only ran with One...perhaps my memory is bad. Had a power outage the other day due to some electrical work being done, so it had to reboot, and its now been back to a sin ... | |||||

| In fact, since the ball park appears to be a 2-car garage, you could potentially have 3 balls available, with 1 or 2 active at a time (I guess that's 9 combinations? A, B, C, A+B, B+A, A+C, C+A, B+C, and C+B). In addition to ball size, ball color could be cool (I'd love to see dark gray or black myself). To get truly crazy One could add a few more ball parks at the other 3 cardinal directions and have up to 8 parked balls. I put few "Attach" and "Detach" in my Default Playlist which is shuffled, so sometimes the table is single ball and sometimes it's dual ball. But some tracks don't look great in single ball, so it will be nice when this is better than just random chance (and instead based on the track flag). | |||||

| Hello, Connecting with multiple devices is not an issue. I suspect the phone not working is of a different make/model and there is some incompatibility with our current app. Please send make/model of each phone and which One doesn't work to [email protected] so we can look into this. | Yes. Any number of devices can connect to and control the table at the same time - but for now, a single device can only be connected to One table at a time. | |||||

| So that's what those two tracks are for, I WAs hesitant to attach or detach anything, but those two piqued my curiosity for sure. Thanks for the reply and info, just what I WAs looking for. I'll continue with a little bit more off topic as heropup did. I toyed around with sisyphus for the rest of us, and wintopo today. Using some mandala images I WAs able to get a couple of fairly basic tracks created, but nothing as complex as I feel can be accomplished in other WAys. Can anyone point me to some reading material that might help me progress into a mo ... | |||||

| Hi Don, Yes, there is a trick, and I apologize for that. But we really WAnted to start shipping the wood tables, and we weren't quite ready with the app. We are just about to push an update that includes a better demo playlist (that will actually use two balls). But, if you WAnt to explore: There should be two tracks at the bottom of your track library, named "attach" and "detach". If you run attach (either as a single track or within a playlist), EVERY track after that should have two balls. Counter-wise - after detach, all tracks should have One ball. Th ... | |||||

| Once the table is connected to your WiFi network, any phone with the app that is also on the network will be able to detect your table and connect to it. And/or you can connect with a web browser from any computer on the same WiFi network. | |||||

| @heropup- No apologies accepted (since never needed :). Off topic is OK. There's no theoretical reason 2-ball can't work for any version of Sisyphus. But implementation and support are the sticking points. That being said, we will be rolling this out soon. Your "primitive" program is spot on: (1-rho) and (theta -Pi). I call this "Tantalus mode" (sticking with the wickedly cruel Greek punishment theme). It only applies when both balls are attached. Don't have a name yet for if only the tail ball is running. | |||||

| Hello community. I'm very interested in owning One of the beautiful tables but I have genuine issue running a power cord so i'd really like to use battery power. Step One is to measure the actual power consumption of the unit, there are simple devices (one is called "kill-a-watt") that can be bought on Amazon that range from $15-$45 or in some places can even be checked out at the local library. IS there any chance someone out there has One of these and can actually measure the power consumption? | |||||

| "Procrustes" - had to look it up. Interesting! (I'm continually amazed at the ancient Greeks' ability to come up with diabolical characters and punishments :). I'd heard of "procrustean," but now I better understand its meaning. While I see how you arrived at it (large to small ball transition), ball size is truly arbitrary (the only reason we ship different sizes is that it makes it easier to follow which is "head" and which is "tail.") While at present, tail-only play occurs only after an error of some sort, we do plan to add it to the choice of track playback in the future. This will really only be desirable for algorithmic tracks - but will definitely expand the "repertoire" of track playback. | |||||

First off - although I'm pretty sure when it comes to sand plotting, I have more area under the curve than most - I'm no authority. But with regard to compexity - I would divide it, for now, into those tracks that are generated algorithmically, and those not. So the pumpkin track, and any tracks that you recognize (including text), are non-algorithmic. All the others -'crop circles', spikey or swirly/loopy spirals, and fractals - are created via multilayered recipes (instructions) -aka algorithms. Both branches are infinite design spaces. Markyland created Sisyphus For The Rest Of Us so that people could more easily explore non-alg space. If you're interested in algorithmic pattern space - start googling. All you need to do is place the connect-the-dots in the right order :). | |||||

| Somewhat off topic, so apologies in advance. Would there eventually be an option to upgrade the metal tables with two-ball support? The lack of a "garage" for the second ball is certainly an issue, but I can think of some WAys this could potentially be addressed... In somewhat related news, out of curiosity, I wrote a primitive program that would convert existing tracks into a track that would show what the path of the ball would look like if it were attached to the opposite end of the arm--that is to say, what the second ball would draw in isolation. | I have a lot of stainless steel furniture in my loft so when the limited edition stainless side table became available I impulse bought it, rolled my eyes at myself, and then sold my black metal side table to a friend.
